Is this 14-episode series recommended? I read that the story is pretty good from the blogs I have visited. I do know that the anime is based on a dating sim with the same name. I read some reviews saying that they didn't like the ending for some reason. I know the game has a few different ending outcomes, but ending in the anime is just one of them I read the creators took the easy way out. So, is the series recommended for a soap-opera type romance drama show? How's the animation and character development?

Yes, YES, a thousand times yes!!
It's one of my favourite series of all time! Very few shows made me cry, and this was one of them.
Animation is not particularly good or bad. The character development is realistic and plays a major role.
As to the ending... that is a point of major controversy. Nobody can tell you whether you'll find it enjoyable or not. You'll have to make up your own mind. Me, I thought the ending was heartbreaking, uplifting, tearjerking and extremely appropriate.

I heard it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Personally I didn't like it. I hated just about every character in there...so I guess that's development that it can make me hate them all. The animation was good, and it does try and lay on the drama pretty thick. Since I hated every character, though, I didn't really care by the end.

great show... ending is not for everyone cause like you say its a dating game sim made into an anime... girl of your choice may not be picked.
there is no real answer but i can accept the reason behind his pick.
its very emotional and can be considered dark towards the end of the series.
i hope they use the dvd version.

It's weird that I agree with you about the characters but I still ended up liking the show. The main character is a real douchebag though. Very other shows have made me feel something like KimiNozo did. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, and I personally like how things ended up. The series and developments feel very realistic, which is why I especially hate the character designs for the series because they're so.. unrealistic and stereotypical-bishoujo-game-looking.
It's not a series with good replay value but I think it's one definitely worth experiencing once.

It's a very powerful show with lots of incredible moments that are just totally beyond words. It's definitely one to watch with a friend (or even better, someone you love) but it is very much best to watch it as a marathon. If you do get into it, I would go as far as to recommend keeping it on the shelf until you have the whole set.
Texhnolyze is right in that the replay value is relatively low because you'll already know all the key points, but the first-time play value is immesurable. You'll be inviting friends over so that you can watch them watch it. It's very intriging to witness people's reactions to this show. Whatever you do, avoid spoilers at all costs.
Still, Rumbling Hearts? That's a name I'd expect to see on an action show. Here's to hoping for reversible covers.

Anyone who honestly claims the ending they used (which is the only one they could have realisticly chosen) was the "easy way out", has no idea what the OTHER endings were like.
As for the show...its very good, in a painful way.

It is worse than that.
Unless you like shows which forcibly makes the characters into virtual avatars of being stupid, acting stupid, and handling situations in a stupid manner, for no other forseeable logical reason than 'omg drama' and generally not being from the sympathetic end of the character scale, stay the fuck away from KGNE.

Heck given I could make a huge harem of all the female characters in shows that I like better than the one the male lead chooses - that's not an issue for me.

For angst & emotional agony, the nearest I can compare it to is the 1st Kimagure Orange Road movie. There are certain similarities.
Kiminozo is more karma than KOR, for which the ending is never really in doubt. Kiminozo makes you take emotional sides (on first viewing anyway), & sometimes change sides. All depends how much you care for & about the characters.
Are there any legit English subtitled releases in other regions already?

It's a major soap-opera series with a few light-hearted characters. Some people might not like what happens with the relationships in the end. I know some people who swear that they perfectly understand the emotional decisions made in this series and will continue to defend the story of the anime to their dying breath.
I think it's certainly watchable but not one of my all-time favorites.

It is not really one of my favorites by any means, and I can hardly say it's one of the best anime series ever made... but I found the series to be quite intriguing and kept my interest well enough (can't really say it's a bad series by any means either). I particularly liked the first few episodes and the last few episodes, with the middle portion seeming kind of dragged out in my opinion (even for a short series like this). It's mostly serious with some comic relief characters thrown in there. Your mileage may vary on them, but I did find the restaurant and next-ep. preview antics with Ayu a little amusing. /images/graemlins/happy.gif The guy chose the psycho bitch at the end, but I really can't find myself disappointed with the way things turned out (so I guess that's a sign the ending works pretty well). Replay value is very suspect. I figure there will be some out of watching the dub voice acting (for those that are interested) if it turns out well, though, and may be something interesting to show to others who have not seen it yet (if you've already watched it once).

The anime is a soap-opera, literally. The original hentai game is much better.

Yes, but in a good way. Still, not one of my favorites or anything. I would be waiting for a box set if not for the awesome 3 disc monthly release. THAT'S definitely a release schedule worth supporting with singles even though the show is only "pretty good" in my mind.

Yeah, I'm definitely supporting FUNimation with this release. I don't care if I have to sell my body!
The animation is consistent throughout the series, and regarding the character development it's pretty good. The show is well worth watching once(varies from person to person). I would rent it before commiting to a purchase, just in case you don't end up liking it.

well, I loved the ending! I really hate most shows of this tipe where a girl has to be chosen. 90% of the time the girl chosen is not the one I want. KGNE was the 10% on my favor.
This one is like a soap opera. Animation is good but I couldn't find likeable characters in here. Have no intention of buying since it has no replay value for me.

Seems like it. Or some combination thereof. That plus monthly = holy shit awesome. Even better than Tsukuyomi will be monthly though.
