Is this a re-release of the title released by Sofcel(ADV)?

hmmm could be i didnt know there was more made. i have the softcel one... does this mean that RS bought out Softcel or at least there libaray of titles?

Ok, then it seems it has a dub(don't have my copy close, but most of sofcel releases were sub only...), that should make dub fans happy /images/graemlins/tongue.gif, me I can live with the sofcel version (http://www.rightstuf.com/aod/dr001), at least the cover is non threathening /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Softcel eventually made a dub for Rei Rei although it was years later. It had choice quotes such as "Your booty's got it going on". It was very unintentionally funny.

Hmmm... if thats true... TRSI needs to pick up stuff like Can Can Bunny Extra when SoftCell's license expires. That was the only hentai I that I was able to watch through all the episodes. It even had a good storyline and plot too.

The softcel release was rather *cough* sad translation wise as they used the old VHS scripts, which were a bit more inventive than what you expect from translations these days. Though I haven't watched the old dub of it, I doubt it was any better.

I doubt they will use the softcel scripts for the sub and dubs. It will probably be easy for whoever is doing the translation as they will have a referance.

Seconded! I have it--the second episode--on Japanese LD, and would love to have a subtitled copy. Interestingly, it was not re-released on R2J DVD (http://www.pinkpineapple.co.jp/list/ya.html), but it was released in Italy (http://www.bol.it/video/scheda/ea801657300705.html).

I should note, of course, that one of the two stories involves (spolier) <font color="white">a rather disturbed and rich young man having intercourse in the eyesocket of a flesh-doll (a human clone without a forebrain)--which closely resembles his sister--and then having the flesh-doll strangle him</font>.

I find it both ironic and amusing that I bought the Rei Rei VHS from Right Stuf years ago for the grand sum of 99 cents. I bought it ONLY because I wanted to know how a hentai tape that was originally listed as $39.99 could be so bad that it's selling for a buck. Some things may not be worth their license cost regardless of how cheap that license is perhaps. On the other hand, I have seen worse since then.... /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

You do realize that Rei Rei was one of the first titles that ADV ever released right? Back in 1993 $39.99 for an anime VHS tape wasn't too out of line with how much everything else was costing.

Devil Hunter Yohko, Guy, Rei Rei, Sol Bianca, Girl from Phantasia, Battle Angel, etc were all $30~40 for VHS.

I think they've been defunct for years. ADV seems to have abandoned the hentai business.

soft cel was the adult arm of adv... but adv offically spinned it off into it's own company. i believe that the same folks own both companies but i dont think soft cel has any new stuff outside of the g-taste dvd releases... even their new show they announced then retracted ended up with A18 I think?

if softcel dies... no biggie. I dont think the company is defunt, just that they aren't an active company cause adv doesnt want to be associated with adult shows.

just hope the catalog of shows from their vhs days gets picked up by other folks. end of summer was on a dvd trailer but never showed up... also still want the missing countdown ova that has never been released in the states.

I was doing a bit of research, trying to determine when exactly Rei Rei and End of Summer came out in order to estimate when the latter's license might expire, when I came across this (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.anime/msg/2a8ebb8362300cdf).

So not only Rei Rei and End of Summer, but also Dragon Pink, Magical Twilight and F^3 are (apparently) up for grabs. I have all of them (what has been released in English, at least), and it would be difficult for me to care less about Dragon Pink, but I believe now is the time for all good lovers of H anime to write to The Right Stuf, and politely beg for them to license all of Doukyuusei.

As Anime 18 released all of the sequel Twin Angels I'm surprised that Soft Cel never released the earlier series uncut on DVD.

My experiences with SoftCel have been...lackluster. Granted I own very little hentai to begin with, but most of the titles I have are from SoftCel. Of those, at least one is edited (that I know about) or has mosaics, and another series is incomplete.
