These are ultimately who I voted for. Voting for Momo of Angel Tales was quite easy. Let put it another way. The spell of her name should be changed to Moemoe. What?

Kurumi (Steel Angel Kurumi)
Alvis D. Hamilton (Last Exile)
Riku Harada (D.N.Angel)
Momo (Angel Tales)
Yuriko Starr (Irresponsible Captain Tylor)
Tamaki Kosaka (To Heart 2)
Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Uematsu Koboshi (Pita-Ten)
Yue Ayase (Negima)
Marie (Sister Princess)
Shia (Pita-Ten)
Sugar (A Little Snow Fairy Sugar)
Hiyono Yuizaki (Spiral)
Tomoyo Daidouji (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Sayuri Kurata (Kanon)
Shiori Misaka (Kanon)

Here are my choices for Group III, and just like in Group II, if I don’t have anything written next to the character’s name, the reason was based on the pictures:

Sayuri Kurata and Shiori Misaka (Kanon) – An all-Kanon third round match is too tempting to pass up.
Kurumi (Steel Angel Kurumi) – No contest; Kagura just doesn’t act or look like a moe character to me.
Misha (Pita-Ten) – Last Exile is a marvelous series (and highly recommended), but Alvis’ moe level is nothing compared to Misha’s
Riku Harada (DNAngel) – voted based on familiarity.
Momo (Angel Tales)
Koyori Kokubunji (Nurse Witch Komugi)
Tamaki Kosaka (To Heart 2)
Karin Shirashi (Diamond Daydreams) – When I saw the brackets for this group, my heart dropped when I saw that Cardcaptor Sakura was in Karin’s bracket. I was hoping that Karin would get a favorable draw in this tournament because I want her to at least win one match, given the circumstances she went through with her illness and her self-doubt and lonliness in relation to her condition. I absolutely loved her story, and in turn fell in love with the character. So Karin gets my vote even though she doesn’t stand a chance against one of the greatest moe characters in history.
Uematsu Koboshi (Pita-Ten) (I’m going to have to check this anime out since I keep voting for these characters.)
Akiha Tohno (Tsukihime) (Tough to tell from the pictures since both these characters look similar.)
Hotaru Tomoe (Sailor Moon) - The main reason why I nominated Hotaru was for the historical background of the character. I read numerous articles – either online or in magazines – that Hotaru (along with Sakura Kinomato) were among the pioneers of the moe class of characters. Nothing against Marie because I love Marie and I think she’s an epitome of a moe character (and maybe the most moe-ish of all the SisPri girls), but she’s not in Hotaru’s league. (BTW, is it me, or does Marie look like a miniture version of Yomiko Readman?)
Shira (Pita-Ten)
Sugar (A little Snow Fairy Sugar) – The Major is not moe. ‘Nuff said.
Haruka Suzumiya (KimiNozo) – Himoyo is too perky for me to consider moe, and especially in comparison to Haruka.
Tomoyo Daidouji (Cardcaptor Sakura) – Tough to vote against the girl that made Sakura who she is.

Kagura (Azumanga Daioh) - Ok, yes, this isn't the most defensible choice ever but damnit, just remember the scene where she starts to cry after she knocks down a tent the girls are putting up during one of the sports festival episodes. There! moe! >______>
Misha (Pita-Ten) - Maybe I'll change my mind if I ever get around to watching my Last Exile discs that have been sitting on my shelf for forever (>_<), but for now Misha gets the vote.
Riku Harada (D.N.Angel) - No real reason, except Yuzuyu is freaky.
Enma Ai (Jigoku Shoujo) - AI! CUTEST AGENT OF HELL EVER!
Koyori Kokubunji (Nurse Witch Komugi) - Koyori is moe, I don't care what anyone else says ::nods::
Yumi Omura (Chobits) - sorta hard since I havent seen To Heart 1 or 2, and only very little of Chobits, but ah well.
Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura) - I'll vote against her eventually I'm sure, but not this round.
Uematsu Koboshi (Pita-Ten) - Nekomimi >_>
Akiha Tohno (Tsukihime) - Because!
Hotaru Tomoe (Sailormoon) - Yeah.
Alyssa Searrs (My-HiME) - Cutest engrish ever.
Sugar (A Little Snow Fairy Sugar) - ...this... just... um... ::head explodes:: I don't much like Sugar but I absolutely refuse to vote for the Major in a moe tourney >_>
Hiyono Yuizaki (Spiral) - Hiyono kicks ass. She probably doesnt have much of a chance, but without her, Spiral would be nothing.
Misuzu Kamio (Air) - Misuzu is rediculously moe by any definition.
Sayuri Kurata (Kanon) - Kanon attack pt. 1
Shiori Misaka (Kanon) - Kanon attack pt. 2

In regards to Sakura Kinomoto, I'm only going to vote against her whenever I feel the other choice is more moe than her. The first time I had to vote against her, but this time I had to vote for her.

As for Alyssa Searrs, I never really thought about who has the cutest engrish, but her the song she sings in the series is beautiful. Alyssa Searrs is definitely elegant. Okay so I voted against Alyssa Searrs for the sake of Shia, but this is Shia I'm talking about. Shia is quite the devil. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif What?

Well true to my word I'm skipping any polls I haven't seen at least one of the characters and that I consider at least close to moe. No more voting based on pics. I ended up skipping about five or six polls this time.

Ah come on. Isn't the fact that I've used "Alyssa Searrs" as an avatar multiple times and heck even as a display name good enough? Heck I've even quoted her in my sig. Have you done any of those? Yes I'm using the lame strategy of trying to shift guilt to the other person and I'm proud of it.

Minawa Ando -- As moe as Sayuri is, I had to give it to Minawa. She's so fragile emotionally and constantly apologizing. Every time she says "gomenasai", I always think moe. Maybe if Sayuri had a bigger part I'd change my mind ^_^

Shiori Misaka -- possibly the most moe of the Kanon girls, which means she's big time moe.

Kurumi -- Tough choice, because neither are really all that moe. But Kurumi's far cuter so she gets the win here.

Alvis D. Hamilton -- you are EVIL to pit those two against each other so early on! This was really tough but I had to give it to cute, sweet, uber-powerful and uber-quiet Al. Misha's indeed adorable and no one can resist her trademark "su", but she's always a bit too annoying at times. Win for Al.

Yuzuyu Sakashita -- went on looks

Enma Ai -- went on looks

Koyori Kokobunji -- went on looks

Tamaki Kosaka -- went on looks

Sakura Kinomoto -- went on familiarity. Besides Sakura's the most moe magical girl to date outside of MGLN.

Koboshi Uematsu -- went on familiarity, plus she's 3 ft. tall with cat ears! MOE!

Yue Ayase -- possibly the best of the Negima moes. Uber-quiet, but uber-smart, and she even hides her feelings of love! MOE!

Marie -- Weak heart, check. Glasses, check. Brother complex, check.

Shia -- best moe of the Pita Ten girls. Tragic background, soft-spoken, and OMG HAVE YOU SEEN HER PAJAMAS?!

Sugar -- whoever nominated Motoko should be shot.

Haruka Suzumiya -- Hiyono's too genki for the tragic but adorable KimiNozo moe.

Misuzu Kamio -- oh man, Gao Girl vs. the CCS lesbian. Easily the hardest vote of the round... but I have to go with Misuzu because she is the cutest girl in Air, has countless moe phrases such as "Gao!", "Nihaha!", and "Misuzu-chin, faito!"... plus she is easily the most tragic moe ever.

Momo is the moe with the mostest.

She is by far the most moe character in Angel Tales, and that's saying something.

Sayuri Kurata (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/sayuri.jpg) (Kanon)

Shiori Misaka (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/shiori.jpg) (Kanon)

Kurumi (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/kurumi.jpg) (Steel Angel Kurumi) - Kagura is not moé, period. Kurumi is a bit more like it.

Misha (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/misha.jpg) (Pita-Ten) - I've never seen Last Exile before but I doubt that particular character can get any more moé than Misha.

Yuzuyu Sakashita (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/yuzuyu.jpg) (Aishiteruze Baby) - I have not seen D.N.Angel, but I don't imagine that character can beat Yuzuyu.

Momo (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/momo.jpg) (Angel Tales)

Koyori Kokubunji (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/Koyori.jpg) (Nurse Witch Komuji)

Yumi Omura (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/yumi.jpg) (Chobits) - Based on familiarity.

Sakura Kinomoto (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/Sakura.jpg) (Cardcaptor Sakura) - No contest whatsoever.

Uematsu Koboshi (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/uematsu.jpg) (Pita-Ten) - Despite how cute she looks, Uematsu isn't really moé but since that Doremi girl looks kind of freaky, I'll go with a familiar character who at least isn't blatantly un-moé.

Yue Ayase (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/yue.jpg) (Negima)

Hotaru Tomoe (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/hotaru.jpg) (Pretty Sailor Sailormoon) - Based on familiarity.

Shia (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/shia.jpg) (Pita-Ten) - Based on the manga, I'd say Shia is pretty moé.

Sugar (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/sugar.jpg) (A Little Snow Fairy Sugar) - I'll save my comments until after the results of this one /images/graemlins/icon_rolleyes.gif.

Hiyono Yuizaki (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/hiyono.jpg) (Spiral)

Misuzu Kamio (http://membres.lycos.fr/ayareiko/images/moe/group3/misuzu.jpg) (Air) - From just the 1st episode I've seen of Air, this character gets my vote easily. And as much as I'd like to vote for Tomoyo just because Cardcaptor Sakura is one of my favorite series and because I like Tomoyo for the most part, I also find her to be kind of creepy at the same time.

A lot of blowouts in this round, and some shocking surprises, the biggest being these two:

1. Marie 39, Hotaru Tomoe 21 - Ladies and gentlemen, you can say that we have our first major upset in this tournament. No way did I thought that sweet, innocent Marie would knock off one of the pioneers of the moe class of characters. What a huge victory for Marie, and for Sister Princess in general! Now, can Marie keep the momentum going in her third round match against Negima's Yue Ayase? I say Marie's chances to go deep in the tournament now look very good. Congratulations and Ganbatte, Marie! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

2. Sugar 32, Mokoto Kusagagi 29 - Who won this match isn't a shock; what is shocking is that the score was surprisingly close. Sugar should've won this match by a more lopsided score.

Also, I'm very please as to how Diamond Daydreams' Karin Shiraishi performed in this tournament. Even though she did lost to Sakura, getting 22 votes was a pleasant surprise. Thank you to those who showed their support for both Karin and Diamond Daydreams, and please make sure you get the opportunity to watch this great series.

Updated Group III Bracket (http://img324.imageshack.us/my.php?image=group30ev.gif)

With Minawa going down and Shiori defeating Sia, we have a Kanon vs. Kanon match for Round 3.

Kagura... continues to amaze me. I thought Kurumi would've beaten her easily.

I think we may be looking at a possible Misuzu vs. Sakura match in the semis. I don't there's anyone strong enough to beat them. That match would be interesting since Misuzu beat Tomoyo. Can Air's leading lady beat both CCS girls?

Jesus, I thought Motoko wouldn't get any votes. This makes me a little weary of all the votes so far. I mean, Motoko is not even moe in the least bit, you don't have to have seen GitS or Sugar to know this match is not even worthy of a close score.

Well, whatever, at least she lost.

Thoughts on possible semifinalists...

Sayuri/Shiori/Kagura/Alvis--

Ugh... Tough one to call. Kagura becoming the Cinderella story here, beating Minmay and Kurumi to get this far. Overall, though, it's anybody's guess as to who will make the semis out of these four.

Yuzuyu/Momo/Koyori/Tamaki--

Another tough one to call. I'll give a slight, very slight edge to Koyori. Otherwise, it's anybody's game.

Sakura/Uematsu/Yue/Marie--

Sakura, easy.

Shia/Sugar/Hiyono/Misuzu--

Misuzu. Her road won't be as easy as Sakura's, but I'd bet we'll see her in the semis.

Commenting on this I find interesting/care about:

Kurumi (Steel Angel Kurumi) 30 48%
Kagura (Azumanga Daioh) 32 51%
- Darn, cant get to your site to check the brackets... is this Kagura's second win now? I cant remember if she has a by in round one or not.

Alvis D. Hamilton (Last Exile) 37 64%
Misha (Pita-Ten) 20 35%
- Gotta say I was expecting this to be closer. Interesting.

Enma Ai (Jigoku Shoujo) 14 25%
Momo (Angel Tales) 40 74%
- Ewwwwwwwww....... ::shakes head::

Yuriko Starr (Irresponsible Captain Tylor) 11 20%
Koyori Kokubunji (Nurse Witch Komuji) 44 80%
- Heh, massacre.

Tamaki Kosaka (To Heart 2) 34 57%
Yumi Omura (Chobits) 25 42%
- Not quite what I was expecting. Interesting.

Karin Shiraishi (Diamond Daydreams) 22 34%
Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura) 41 65%
- A blowout, but not quite so bad as I thought it would be.

Marie (Sister Princess) 39 65%
Hotaru Tomoe (Pretty Sailor Sailormoon) 21 35%
- Woah, and here I thought Hotaru was going to be a major force to be reckoned with. Looks like SisPri isnt dead yet.

Alyssa Searrs (Mai-HiME) 16 29%
Shia (Pita-Ten) 38 70%
- Suck. Predictable though. ::blames kiku some more::

Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) 29 47%
Sugar (A Little Snow Fairy Sugar) 32 52%
- ...This was disturbingly close. Granted, I don't like either, but... disturbing. Very, very disturbing. But still, "close" still means she lost, so she's out. Phew.

Hiyono Yuizaki (Spiral) 32 57%
Haruka Suzumiya (Rumbling Hearts) 24 42%
- YES! Most unexpected win of the round for me, and most welcome!

Tomoyo Daidouji (Cardcaptor Sakura) 24 40%
Misuzu Kamio (Air) 36 60%
- Ooooh, Misuzu handily beats the lil loli lesbian archetype! And without an R1 release at that!

So Hiyono was the highlight, the Major gave me a scare there, and Ai's crushing defeat was probably the most disappointing match.

Heh damn you said basically what I was gonna. But yes, Kanon vs Kanon, and I expect Alvis to beat both Kagura and whichever Kanon girl advances.

That would pit Alvis against the winner of the winners from the Yuzuyu/Momo and Koyori/Tamaki battles. I guess that'll be... Tamaki? I have no idea really. I think Alvis can handle any of the four through.

So looking it at that way, I think the final for this bracket will be Alvis versus the winner of, like you said, what will likely be a Misuzu/Sakura match. I should be able to predict who would win that one (Sakura you'd think), but I'm nooooot so sure...

Either one should be able to take Alvis though, and thus one of the two will likely win this bracket.

Edit: quick question, Aya. How are you handling the finals? We'll have six characters running. Will they also be randomly assigned, for three one on one matches? Or will we go 1v1v1 for three of the brackets and 1v1v1 for the others, leaving two for the finals?

Edit: quick question, Aya. How are you handling the finals? We'll have six characters running. Will they also be randomly assigned, for three one on one matches? Or will we go 1v1v1 for three of the brackets and 1v1v1 for the others, leaving two for the finals?

Elimination Style Polling:

All six finalists will compete in a single poll. If any one of them gets >50% of the vote, they will be declared the winner. However, if no one gets >50% of the vote, then the character(s) with the least votes are eliminated and a new poll begins with the remaining characters.

What will determine who gets eliminated is whether or not the combined vote total can match the current leader. For example: A gets 20 votes D, E, and F earns 10, 8, and 6 votes respectively. In that case E and F are gone because their combined total is 14. D continues on because D's, E's, and F's total is 24, enough to carry D past A if everyone who voted for D, E, and F voted for D in the next poll.

Votes do not carry over to each new poll.

After seeing Minawa lose so close after seeing Aria go down in the first round has really lowered my faith in this tournament. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
