Megacon - Feb 24-26th - Big Annoucement from FUNimation

We at FUNimation are doing double duty this weekend. Part of us are going to New York Comic Con and part at Megacon.

We have two panels at Megacon. We will announce yet another title announcement. It's a big one.

Based on Funimations predilection towards Gonzo I'd have to say it's one of the following (in probable order):

Witchblade, Black Cat or Solty Rei

If it is going to be for Fall 2006 on Tv, this is the right time to announce it because the advertisers advance previews are in a month or so. You need to build the promo time. I hope it is two licenses for Witchblade and Bleach. I hope it is mentioned at NYCC. I am going to be there after doing my day job.

Hmm... there would be big, gigantic, colossal, galactic, and THEN that. Stars being licensed alone would be a sign of the Ends of the World. (Okay, so I don't see CPM giving that up anytime soon...)

As for the big announcement, I'll guess Beck. Wasn't there some leak out that they were getting that somewhere that was never confirmed?

Most likely title: Fullmetal Alchemist movie (considering Lance's reaction when this title came up at the Katsucon panel last week).

Other likely titles IMO:

-Solty Rei
-Black Cat
-School Rumble
-Beck
-Pani Poni Dash (considering how Funi licensed Moon Phase, I wouldn't be surprised if they get this title as well)

BTW, I'm wondering if, along with the announcement at Megacon, there's going to be a different title announcement at NY Comic Con.

While I'd like to have those, too, I don't think they qualify as "big." Big to me would be something we'll see on tv that will appeal to the mainstream and bring in lots of money so Funi can go and license all those other, Kiminozo "surprise" type titles we want. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Meh, if this is what it was, then it was a given. And only big in the sense that it will make them lots of money. But I suppose that's good enough, and Kiminozo was enough of a "wow, they got that!" announcement to hold us until something more interesting comes along.

Wonder if they've got anything else that just hasn't leaked out yet...
