Looks like we've gotten lucky and CD Japan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=HSB-43) and Amazon Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000EIF8X2/qid%3D1140990360/250-9054195-2643408) have it listed. If the listing on CD Japan is like the previous listing for Shin Aoi Tori, expect to NOT be able to order through them soon. Amazon Japan still has Shin Aoi Tori listed (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BM6LFA/qid=1140990496/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/250-9054195-2643408) as shipping "within 24 hours."
The price at Amazon Japan is lower than CD Japan.
Personally, I was thinking the DVD set wasn't going to show up on either site, so in desperation (I emailed CD Japan, they told me they weren't going to list it) I ordered mine through Sega Direct and a deputy service (Masato). Oh well, at least I'm getting it. I think the Sega Direct version comes with a poster or something, not that spending the extra deputy fee made it worth all that...

NO pics on CDJ /images/graemlins/sad.gif
Do I need this, having all the R1 ST, but none of the games?
I.e. is it seiyuus in concert or animation or both? /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Does anyone really NEED a DVD? /images/graemlins/wink.gif
This is seiyuus in concert. No animation at all.
The bonus is that it features the Hoshigumi performing for the first time (that I'm aware) for the "Shinjiro in Tokyo" event... which I believe replaced Christmas in Paris which was the Paris Kagekidan's venue for several years.
If you're not a fan of the live events (more like plays than "concerts"), then you don't need to bother.

Live events involving seiyuu's always give me a giggle. Usually, they're a reminder to me why these people are voice actors and not stage professionals (not because of lack of talent, but stage presence). Even so, the fact that something like that occurs is still notable and cool in its own way.

Wow, March is getting a bit expensive with this and the Dragonball movies set... I might group it with a few of my April items.

Actually, a lot of Japanese seiyuu originate from the stage. I believe most of the seiyuu that voice Sakura Taisen characters are that way. If you see one of these performances (well, not necesarily the New Year shows) you can tell it's really professional and the ALL have tremendous talent (OK, so Ohgami's singing leaves a bit to be desired LOL)

I enjoy the BGC Hurricane 2033 "Tinsel Town" performances, which of course has Michie Tomizawa (Linna's seiyuu) there too. Quite shy back then IIRC.
The Love Hina concerts are fun, & I've also a LD of Aya Hisakawa giving a Christmas concert. Looking for some Humming Birds concert videos & Goddess family Club if there were any...
Have you got the Kiminozo fan discs?

These performances are on a MUCH different level. They aren't simply concerts, but full on theatrical style "plays." On the summer shows (like Shin Aoi Tori), they have some drama in the Sakura Taisen world, then they also perform a play, or a piece of one, within that play. It's really good stuff IMO.

I don't honestly think there were any. I've never seen any for sale or heard of any.

OMFG!
This year marks the END of the Kayou Show! (http://sakura-taisen.com/) /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
A 10 year run isn't bad, but it is disappointing because they were all damn fine. You can see a PDF with more information here. (http://sakura-taisen.com/06_showfinal_pre.pdf) The PDF may take a while to download, so don't panic if it takes a while to open.
And it looks like you can purchase the New York Review on-line now as well.
Damn, I guess I'm gonna have to attend this one (skipped the last one since Maya Okamoto wasn't going to be there and the one before that was when I was still job hunting). Hopefully I'll be able to cosplay... been wanting to do the Dandy Boss but suits in general are expensive enough in Japan as it is, getting a custom made one will be killer.

I wish I could figure out a good way to get to see the online NY show (http://sakura-taisen.com/06_newyorkrevue.html).
I'd love to go see one of the shows live, but given it would cost a butt load for the plane ticket and would end up being a week or so in Japan, the cost of seeing a single Kayou Show would be rather hefty for me. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

You might need to go through a proxy server in Japan, it's also possible it only accepts credit cards registered in Japan. I'd rather just wait for a DVD though, I hate watching stuff in anything less than DVD quality unless it's something I have to see right away.

I agree, but do you remember the Christmas in Paris shows? They were all presented live on-line but have never made it to DVD, so that would lead me to believe THIS won't make it to DVD.
Of course, a NY show could be on the New Year show DVD set, but I wouldn't know as mine won't show up for a few more weeks. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

Well, as it turns out, my wish has been granted! I didn't think we'd get the New York show on DVD, but it turns out I was wrong!
You can preorder the DVD, to be released on July 27, 2006, from:
CD Japan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=HSB-57) for 7134 Yen
or
Amazon Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FCWB8C/qid%3D1145625009/250-3526675-5744202) for 5851 Yen.
I went Amazon JP w/ economy shipping and ended up @ 7000 Yen. Score!
It may be the year of the final Hanagumi show, but it is shaping up to be a good one!
packaging sure took a nose dive... for a retail price of over 7k yen its just in a normal keepcase. i miss those hard boxes that my other SW music dvds came with.
Guess this is the last music dvd for this series? Seems like a poor way to end the franchise.
I'll take a look and listen to the dvds once I get home.

Let's make sure we are on the same page. The 2006 New Year Show came with a box and was the normal ~10,000 Yen.
I believe you are talking about the New York Revue 2006? Do you have any of the releases prior to Kaijin Bessou? Namely Ai Yue Ni, Benitokage or Arabia no Bara? Those 3 were single DVDs only, in normal keep cases and were... ~7500-8000 Yen retail.
The Hanagumi's final performance is beginning this month, will be recorded and will be on DVD in December per their usual schedule I believe. That will, most likely, be in the box format you are looking for. THIS upcoming release will be the last music DVD for the Hanagumi. I don't know if they've decided to continue on for a few years with the Hoshigumi (New York's group) or not.
Considering this "7k yen DVD in a normal keep case" has a live version of all of the Hoshigumi's songs (minus the short version of Samurai Tamashi from STV: Eps 0) I should think 7500 Yen is a steal. This is also not one of the New Year nor the Super Kayou Show performances. It was an extra performance to test the waters with the Hoshigumi and was recorded in March.
I liked this performance a lot, but then I enjoy most anything with Kobayashi Sanae in it.
If you were hoping for a Hanagumi performance be prepared for a let down.
what happened to Maya Okamoto? She isnt in this final show?

Are you talking about the final Hanagumi show? My guess is that she has other contractual obligations. I don't know how many of the performances you've seen but there are at least 2 that I can think of in which Kouran doesn't appear as a part other than using the Kinematron. So more than likely she is, unfortunately, tied up with other business. She will probably show up on the Kinematron as pre-recorded material.
