Has the fate of this show been determined yet? I've been catching this on Cartoon Network and would like to add it to my collection. I'd really like to see this uncut and in Japanese too. So any news out there?

I'm guessing after 103 viewings and no replies no one knows huh?

I don't recall seeing anything about a dvd release. But if a dvd is going to come out, I'll throw out a wild and unsupported guess for Viz. Unless Toei decides to make a comeback. /images/graemlins/devil.gif

I could swear I heard this was licensed for DVD release here, but I don't remember by who. I may be full of it though, so I'll see if I can confirm my suspicions.

I've been keeping especially vigilant about Bo^7, as everybody well knows. As it stands now....all I know of was a broadcast license....with a DVD one not yet mentioned at all AFAIK.

Believe me, YOU WANT....REALLY....to see Bo^7 in uncut, unedited Japanese with English subs...though a ton of liner notes or onscreen text would be pretty necessary to get the full experience.

Well, Viz is Handleling it, so They'll release it in due time.... probably after they got The Advs. of Billy the Ninja Kid (aka Naruto) all squared out and making money... /images/graemlins/wink.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

if it's released on DVD it will more than likely be some dubbed-only crap like "Zatch" Bell.

I seriously hope that isn't the case. Bo^7, in a pure form, is essentially the successor to the likes of Excel Saga...and perhaps even my beloved Sexy Commando. In essence, it is truly a modern classic....truly impossible to forget. I say this from only being able to see the first 7 eps in their original form, while having viewed Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemy, Sexy Commando, Golden Boy, 2x2 Shinobuden, and Ippatsu Kikimusume in their entirety. IMO, it meets or exceeds all of these on various levles.

Bo^7 deserves the royal treament...nothing less.

If that ended up being the case i'd just have to skip it. I'm already watching it on CN like that as it is. If I were going to lay down cold hard cash for it it better be unedited.

By the way. Does anyone know why Don Patch/Poppa Rocks' name was changed for the anime?

His name wasn't changed for the anime. Don Patch is his original name (Well, Don Pacchi, but it's the same anyway). Viz decided to translate it to Poppa Rocks to maintain the original pun in their release of the manga (Don Pacchi means popping rocks candy like Pop Rocks for example).

It couldn't be released unedited as is to my knowledge since they changed the closing, though the timecode could be the same.

Regardless of which, Viz isn't the one who has Bo-bobo. Toei's US division does which could mean an unedited release.

Really? Someone told me that they were different even in Japan. Hold on a second. I have to go kill my informant /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

His name in the Japanese version of both the manga and anime is Don Patch. In the US manga, it's Poppa Rocks to keep the pun somewhat intact (apparently, there's a type of candy similar to Pop Rocks in Japan with a name close to Don Patch).

...unless of course there's been some sort of name change in the anime after a good chunk of episodes. I haven't been watching lately, so I wouldn't know.
