Love Hina (r2) dvd question

Has anyone ever compared the US release to the Japanese release as far as video quality goes. Also does anyone know where to get the Japanese DVDs other than CD japan and YesAsia?

Anime Jungle (http://jungle-scs.co.jp/en/index.htm) has a couple of the discs.

I can't imagine the R2s being any worse than the US release. It's pretty indicative of when it was released. And the fact that they had composite masters to work with was obvious as well.

Thanks for the link! No I was wondering if the Japanese version had any noticable difference in video quality than the US version. The Japanese version I think are 3 episodes on dual layered disks, where the US ones are 4 on a single layer

The R2s didn't use composite masters and look pretty much perfect. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that there's quite a bit of aliasing. It even appears when watching on an interlaced set, so the cause of it is really hard to tell. I seriously doubt the R1s are any better in that regard.

You can try to get them at Yahoo Japan auctions. I bought mine a few months ago for less than $100 not including deputy fees and shipping.

The US one had a lot of aliasing (it actually got very distracting, might have been the TV but no other shows were all that noticable). I was hoping the R2s would have been better.
