View Full Version : Need Something to Replace GetBackers

I'm nearing the end of my GetBackers viewing experience and I need something that has the same energy and action-to-comedy ratio to watch once the GetBackers is finished. Any suggestions?
EDIT: thanks mods for moving this into the correct folder /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

Outlaw Star - It feels the same to me considering Outlaw Star is also about taking "random" kinds of jobs. Although I love this show alot more then GB. The comedy is excellent and very interesting plot loaded with action.
Hope you haven't already seen it. Didn't see if you had a anime list.

Well, it may not work for you, but my personal best follow up has been Saiyuki, which somehow has a very similar vibe, even if it has a different setting and if the powers of the main characters aren't as fancy as the Jagan. But it has plenty of action and comedy, and some half-crazy personalities to go with it. The leads can be quite likeable and quite nasty at the same time. And, like in Get Backers, some of the bad guys turn out to be ... not so bad /images/graemlins/happy.gif
Though, for all the Saiyuki out there, of course nobody can replace Akabane.

Now that you mention it Goku kinda reminds me of Ginji in some ways at least.

Saiyuki is a good show. And now that Itsuka brought it up I think I feel the same way, it just has GBs vibe. But if you haven't seen Outlaw Star yet either, definitly check it out.

on dvd now, a good action show is Madlax. Or you could go with Mai-HiME. Ghost Stories and Detective Loki Ragnarok may suit your needs, but I haven't seen either of them beyond episode one, so I can't tell you if theyre good or not.
on fansub, Futakoi Alternative is has some detective elements and most episodes have good action sequences. Not so sure about whether or not it will make it to R1.
