you will not be disappointed. Great animation, interesting music, wonderful characters, and a gripping story that flows evenly along.

My only complaint is that the ending was a little rushed. Other than that, no complaints. A thoroughtly interesting, entertaining and visually-appealing show.

One of Gonzo's great works... an epic with flair and clearly with nods to the adventure serials of old, gorgeous aerial sequences and a gripping storyline make Last Exile a must get /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Last Exile is one of my favorites: It is very reminiscent of a traditional space opera like Captain Herlock. Range Murata's artwork is unmatched--some of the aerial battles are the best in the medium.

As has been said, it is epic in scope, with characters of depth and an involving plot. And finally, if that were'nt sufficient, there's Tatiana Wisla.

I'd give it an A- to an A.

I'm partial to Sophia myself. :p

Praise Last Exile, Gonzo's gorgeous show that didn't get NEARLY enough people watching it as it should have gotten.

Very good, slightly overrated, but entirely worth it to snag the thinpak collection for like 60 bucks online. The pacing is a bit off in that they seemed to realize about 3/4's into the series "Oh shit, we have to create and ending". Given how good the beginning and middle is the ending is a let down.

To sum up: epic adventure, absorbing, great aerial battles, lush animation, imaginative world, fleshed-out characters, buy it now

Beautifully animated - see at least some of it on a widescreen TV if you get a chance.

Also, probably Gonzo's best job of blending CGI with animation - it actually looks good, very good in fact.

The story, the world, and the characters are all very interesting.

Agreed. It's not your typical fast-paced badass show. But amazing in its own way. An epic and emotional journey of two maturing kids that have a hard legacy of their fathers to live up to.

Well, seeing as how I creamed myself over Wolf's Rain, which to some had what was a rushed ending, I think I can handle that. JackProton's description of course sold it to me as well. Sounds reminiscent of Castle in the Sky, one of my all time favs. I remember this airing on Adult Swim..I think...and me and my friend Juice (nickname...by the way...) sitting on the couch, drunk as hell watching it. I remember asking "So what's this about?" His reply; "I have no fucking clue but the animation style is interesting as hell." Up to this point, I still hadn't gotten back into anime hardcore yet, so seeing a series mix CG with animation, and look that good, was completely new to me.

So, of course, I remembered that night and asked you fine folks and, as usual, your responses were quick, helpful, and to the point. Which is kind of a double-edged sword. My bank account is taking a serious beating here guys... /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

I hate predictable shows!

This one, I kept guessing to the last second of it! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif I loved it so much that I kept prolonging watching it to my best (over nearly three weeks, my longest ever for a single box set!) only because I didn't want it to end...

Absolutely fabulous show. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Oh, yeah! I totally agree with Captain Impulse that the ending was a little rushed!

You should just buy the very slick thinpack. (http://dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=677660) It saves you both cash and space. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I don't think you'll regret this purchase. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's like Castle in the Sky though... I'd say it's more like what would Range Murata (Blue Sub 6) do if he was directing the game Skies of Arcadia. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm now in the mood to re-watch this series. LOL! This would be my third time.

The line-up is different now, of course, but it still airs at odd hours of the night. Cromartie High and RaheXphon are their main series now, though others appear on weekends, I believe.

Ahhh...TechTv you say. Hmm, well, our drunken retarded asses weren't really paying attention to what channel the TV was on. Makes sense now why we could never find it on Adult Swim's line-up. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

And yes, JackProton, Captain Impulse, and Balthier are pretty much human beings created for one purpose; To destroy any hopes I have of saving any of the money I earn. Between the three of you, I'm going to have to start living in a box before the year is out. Hey, at least I'll have a nice anime collection though, even if I will have to steal about five hundred feet of extension cords to power up my TV and DVD player..I'm going to need a bigger box...

Hmm..I'd have to really think about giving my kidney away. I'd only do it if they gave me the name of the person they were giving it to. That way, if I ever needed it back I'd know where to find it. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

And yeah, it's ridiculous, but I've basically been re-working my entire budget around anime lately. Staying away from the more expensive meals I'd rather have, not buying live action films, not going to the theater, driving only when I absolutely have to, making less calls on my cell phone, etc. This is insane. Well, there's no going back now! Truth be told, I'm not sure I'd want to, even if I could. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
