And yet...you're procrastinating on what is probably the greatest BONES show of all time (R-A-H...)?

No kidding. Is there no love for Rah? Also, Twelve Kingdoms suffers greatly from animation quality constantly in the series.

Funny, I remember buying Rahxephon and Texhnolyze at the same time. I tossed the coin on which one to watch first, and was quite happy with the results when Rah won (no offense to Tex on that one since I liked that series quite a bit as well).

There's another series that doesn't get enough viewers: Texhnolyze.

That's because I've heard oh so many people tell me "It's like Evangelion..BUT BETTER!!" I wanted to finish the entire Evangelion saga, including End of Eva, before I dipped into Rah. It may seem strange of me, but I just didn't want to do a disservice to NGE by going into a similar show after being miffed by the original ending. Now that I have seen EoE, you can see that NGE is Number Four in my Top 5 Favorite Shows list.

I do, in fact, love BONES to death, and am even going to get Eureka Seven even though I wasn't a fan of the concept when I first heard about it. But honestly, Rah is going to have to be mind-blowingly good, like, Miyazaki-san level good to trump Eva in my book. I'm going to be getting it soon, if not within the month, so stay tuned to see if it does indeed blow me away as it has everyone else.

RahXephon is slightly more "artsy" at times than Evangelion (well, pre-psycho-analysis Eva, anyway /images/graemlins/wink.gif ), but also has a ready mix of light-hearted stuff and some serious drama. There's one episode of Rah in particular that is extremely powerful...makes you step back and say, "Wow...that's fucked up". It also ties together its loose ends pretty well in the end (although you really have to be paying attention the whole way), thus it's better to marathon it, read the inserts with each disc, etc. Overall, I can't decide which I like better because at the end of it, they pull of two very similar premises in completely different ways. I'd probably have to give the points to RahXephon since the creator(s) was/were able to write and complete an entire coherent story, whereas Eva's creator (Hideaki Anno) has flubbed up two series somewhat in my opinion (His and Her Circumstances being the second).

I ran a poll here a couple of years ago on EVA vs Rah--AoD split right down the middle with Rah edging EVA. I think someone reran the same poll last year, and EVA edged Rah.

I wasn't really interested in addressing the EVA vs Rah question as that would be /images/graemlins/horse.gif based on the other thread, and the 10 prior in the last couple of years.

I was merely pointing out that if you're a BONES whore, then Rah ought to be very high on your list.

Now I'm thinking you ought to wait awhile, since it's been built up so much that it can't possibly meet your expectations... /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Yeah, that's it, survive a couple of seasons under the bridge, and then watch it...you'll appreciate it more. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Kidding aside, I've seen and liked a lot of what you're currently watching, and Rah's been my favorite anime for a couple of years--though it's being seriously challenged by GiTS:SAC 2nd Gig. More on that in April when the AOD Favorites polls are run.

GANTZ isn't even a BONES anime, so why is BONES stuff being so heavily discussed here?!

Just be sure to read the inserts after seeing the disc they come with. I made the mistake of cracking open the volume 7 insert before actually watching volume 7--not such a great idea. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

Haha yeah, I'll second that, actually. It's rather hir or miss with those booklets at times. Perhaps it would be better to read them after viewing a disc.

Or it was just the evolution of a thread, seeing as how you really can't have 12 pages of "Gantz is the greates anime ever!!" The thread would have been dead if it wasn't for the discussion straying from the core topic. That being said, I would actually open a thread and post the same message; "BUY GANTZ NOW!!" about 80 gabazillion times if it would make more people watch it. I'm loving the shit out of it right now. Only two more volumes to go too...I DON'T WANT IT TO END!

And about Rah, I'll probably be buying the thinpack to save money. Are the inserts really that crucial to understanding the show???

Not really, as I didn't read them until well after my first viewing. Although for repeat viewings, if you want to "get" every little thing about the show, they certainly help to clear some things up. But nah, they're definitely not required reading.
