Sorry for the 24 hour delay...still no net service (waiting til Tuesday) and no access to other compys....

anyway...

One week to go and one thing is for certain....we already know the animes on this list know how to lose...what needs to be settled is 'do they know how to WIN with so much on the line?'

With that in mind, here is our final look at "The Last Four In and Last Four Out" before Selection Sunday next week....

Last Four In:

1. Magic Users Club > This team has played itself into the field at this point..and could be a major headache
2. Princess Nine > The Princesses took care of business this last week, with two wins that may have safely put them back in the tourney after it looked like they were so far down that the bubble seemed burst for good
3. Mononoke Hime > A huge win last week may have put them back in...a second win made them more secure, but a win or two more would certainly help
4. Witch Hunter Robin > the Hunters are making a last-minute effort to be included, but it remains to be seen if their overall body of work is good enough. Right now, they are the last team in.

Last Four Out:
1. Ah! My Goddess > A bad loss this week...at this point are the last team out, but a win or two more could cement their bid
2. Lupin the Third > Bad thieves, BAD THIEVES!!! When you are the LAST team in, the LAST thing you do is jeopardize your slot by LOSING to a beatable team AT HOME! That loss may end up costing them...
3. Macross > Only chance now is to run the table
4. Naruto > Weak scheduling has the ninjas with a fairly decent record, but their failure to beat any real teams will cost them here when the Committee looks at the power rankings

Also, congratulations to El Hazard, who was the first team to clinch one of the 65 bids! Two more bids are going out later today....

Wolfie misspoke yesterday...there were THREE bids handed out....

Without further ado, let's welcome back to the 2006 Anime Championship Tournament the following returnees...

> Akira
> Patlabor

Both squads are still seeking their first tourney wins..

And let us welcome one newcomer....

Fullmetal Alchemist > Congratulations on your first trip to the Big Dance!

Two more tickets will be handed out today!

Gatchaman vs Devil Lady for one ticket...

The other ticket is for the survivor of Yu Yu Hakusho and the Irresponsible Captain Tylor matchup...

Fullmetal Alchemist will have to be considered for the Lucky Dog next year. Who did they get paired with this year?

They got paired with Belmont...so they will liklely be matched up against one of the heavyweights...so a 'Lucky Dog' nomination for next year is likely.

And after five years, Wolfie is debating reshuffling the teams and animes for next year (which might make the Lucky Dog issue moot until 2008)....but that is for another day and time.
