Okay my Three Kings Saga boxset shipped on Friday and my girlfriend and I are super geeked about it. Without any spoilers how would you rate this final saga compared to the previous ones. We're really looking forward to it but we're also worried (since its the end of the show) that it will dissapoint. So again without any spoilers how is the final Yu Yu Hakusho saga?

COnsidering that a few volumes of the final set got an "A" from Chris as opposed to the straight "B's" the series had been getting, I'd venture to say that the final batch is probably pretty damn good.

I liked it a lot, very satisfying conclusion to the series. I wish I could find another anime that was so satisfying start to finish.

Edit: Just for comparisons sake, my order of preference:

Chapter Black > Dark Tournament > Three Kings > Spirit Detective

My personal preference ranking:

Dark Tournament > Spirit Detective > Three Kings > Chapter Black.

I wish it would have been about 10 eps longer so the tournement would have lasted longer, other than that it was absolutely a huge step back up from the kinda weak chapter Black saga.

The Chapter Black Saga is my favorite self contained arc in Yu Yu Hakusho, while I like the Dark Tournament saga for the fights and the Toguro/Genkai backstory. The Spirit Detective saga is a great set-up arc with lots of mini arcs (even though the Maze Castle arc sorta dragged),I find that the Three Kings arc is good for tying up loose ends and has some excellent animation but otherwise it's the one that get the least re-watchability for me. I think partly the reason the arc kinda suffers is because of the rush job Yoshiro Togashi did on the original manga version because Shonen Jump pulled the plug on YYH. It was basically a lot of scattered and rushed ideas and stories towards the end. The anime people basically had to play clean-up duty and make the ending into something much more meaningful AND coherent. Given what source material they had to work with the gave the series the proper closure the manga version DESERVED.

Glad to hear it. ^^

I have to say that the Chapter Black arc, overall, was rather weak. *buys box set regardless* /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

My order of preference goes:
Dark Tournament > Three Kings > Spirit Detective > Chapter Black
