I saw a couple of threads about Kamichu! in the R1 forum. They had a lot of information about the R1 release but little about the show, of course that is appropriate for that forum. But it was obvious that a lot of people are excited about the show itself, and not just the box and extras. So that is why I am asking about it here.
I did a Google search and got a good idea of what the show is about. This animefringe (http://www.animefringe.com/magazine/2005/11/feature/04.php) article seems to give a good description. But I cannot really tell if this is all comedy or if there is a significant amount of serious content. What I really want is a cute comedy, but a bit of drama, but not tragedy, is fine.
Is there anything with an R1 release that Kamichu! can be compared to? Due to the spiritual/magical aspect I am wondering if it is anything at all like Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away or Someday's Dreamers.
Also, the animefringe article implies that if I like the Kamichama Karin manga, which I do through two volumes, then I will also like Kamichu!. Does anybody have an opinion on that?
Right now I am thinking that the first DVD will probably be worth my money, but I would like to get some more information if possible.
TIA
