View Full Version : (update: problem intermittent ) hmm. AmJ seems to be blocking anime-dvd searches

Anyone else having this issue right now?

I tried searching in Amazon.jp today for some anime and I'm getting only non-dvd hits. When I specify dvd, it gives me the usual "not found" message.

I'll be sending them a msg-inquiry later about this. I'm just wondering if somebody here know if this is a new policy.

edit: updated title since problem is fixed now, but they're still investigating the issue, per AmJ response.

Just tried it out. I'm having the same issue.

Searches for known catalog numbers isn't working either. I can browse the DVD section, but I can't get results for any DVDs in my searches, Anime or otherwise.

It worked OK for me as of last night, when i ordered the two Detective Conan OVA dvds.


If there has been a change in policy will they cancel my preorders i have standing?

Hope not, they where a couple of pints of beer (in cost) cheaper than CD Japan /images/graemlins/sad.gif

Nobody will likely know the answer to that one, considering it's never happened before to the best of my knowledge.

My guess is there may be something wrong with their DVD database or something along those lines.

I see a conenction between us two who it worked for and the two it didnt.

And what would that be? I don't know about Treatment, but I'm in the US and you 2 are in Europe. Unless there's something else I'm missing...

Anyway, it IS back up and working now. Wonder WTF was going on?

They were probably just working on soemthing on the back end. After all, it's not like right then was prime DVD shopping hours in Japan.

Yeah. They haven't replied to my email, yet, but it's now working fine again for me, too.

Hopefully it's just an isolated glitch.

I didn't have any issues from my side but don't consider it as a definitive ok since i only order from Amazon Jp like twice every year or so since i tend to order my R2 DVDs from CD Japan (i don't mind paying extra for a better service & packing).

I got their reply and they asked to give them more info on what happened since they can't reproduce it. Well, imo, they can't reproduce it coz they already fixed whatever the problem was. /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif /images/graemlins/relief.gif

Nevertheless, I provided them the time-info and I also suggested that it was prolly that they were doing some site-maintenance when we encounter the search-error.

I searched for 女å*?高生 and it only showed upto volume 6 of "Joshikousei -Girls High-" manga. I searched it on google.co.jp and then went to amazon.co.jp from that link and it was there, so I was able to order it.

Also, searching for ARIA didn't show the upcoming Perfect Guidebook. Again, it's actually there. I had to search on google.co.jp to get the ISBN number and then search using that to order it. What's up with this!? I was starting to worry because the first pressing comes with a CD-Drama. I guess the lesson is not to give up so easily.

The book search was working for me early today. As was the DVD search. Maybe they were doing maintenance?

Shoot them an email and ask WTF is going on and see if you get a reply.

EDIT- I did a search for 女å*?高生 and it came up with 255 hits. Looks like Vol. 1-6 of 女å*?高生 is listed near the top.
