Do they actually make it to Gyumaoh and finish their journey in the anime or does it just stop? I like the series so far and even got use to the change of the dub cast but it would be nice if they actually made it to Gyumaoh. I think I read somewhere that the manga was still going so I was wondering if it just kind of stops like Twelve Kingdoms.

The manga is still going but I think I've heard that it may be close to ending soon.
The anime has stopped for now after four seasons (Two seasons for the origial Saiyuki [although the second is pretty much all non manga filler], a third season called Saiyuki Reload [actually follows the later parts of the Saiuki manga up to volume 9], and a fourth season called Saiyuki Gunlock [follows some of the Saiyuki Reload manga])
The producers of the anime apparently really wanted to keep the anime going even though the manga was being released so slowly, thus there's a really large amount of filler in the anime. If the anime strictly followed the manga, it would actually probably be about only 26 episodes long by now.
As for whether they'll make a 5th season? Who knows, but it probably won't be for a while. I do suggest reading the manga though.

I've definitely been meaning to check out the manga since I enjoy the anime(only watched the first anime series so far though, I just ordered the first couple Reload DVDs). Usually I'm very anti-filler, but I am glad that they decided to make tv original stuff in this case, since I loved the Homura story arc.

The first 2 seasons are great and I love all the episodes. I enjoyed the Homura story alot as well, and even if it is not a part of the original manga, I don't consider those fillers. The first 3-4 dvds of Reload are really fillers until that last and only arc of that season starts at the end of vol 4 or beginning of vol 5.
I think Reload is the weakest season since I recall someone saying that Gunlock gets much better or at least cover 2 arcs.
Either way, I doubt we will see an end to this journey. If the writers are good, this could go on for a few more seasons.
