I picked up Shingu blind after a few recommendations from people and watched the first disk. Unfortunatly, there wasn't anything that I found that really grabbed me and I'm not sure I want to invest in a series that in the end will leave me sort of "eh". Does the show improve after the first disk or should I cut my losses here?

Personally I would say it only mildly improves as it goes on. If you it didn't grab you quickly then I would tend to beleive it won't overall. In a sense its very much like Tenchi OVA in that it was pretty even all through the show.

If you don't like it now I don't think you will like it much later on. I've seen the first 4 volumes and it's an ok show. It doesn't really go anwhere interesting and too much time is spent preparing the culture fest. It's kinda dull. I'd recommend stopping at vol. 1 and getting something else you would enjoy.

I agree with the other comments, although I think it's a really good show and that it just keeps the very high level of quality all throughout the show. I wish they would make some more.

Don't get me wrong I did find it decent (not a favorite but decent). Its just that if you didn't like it at the beginning then you most likely won't like it any better later on.

Well, I thought it was only okay at first and that it came together very well as it progressed. I have a low attention span though, so I must have dug the feel of the series at least a little from the get go to make it through. Conversely, I felt in no hurry. Even the awesome volume 6 laid upon my shelf for several months before I finally got around to watching it.

Edit: Shit, 5. Damn you TRSI for not reeming m......wait, never mind. Good deal on a good series.

Not sure what you're looking for. It gets better in the sense that there's some cool space opera intrigue and action later on. It remains the same in the respect that the mundane day-to-day school life stuff continues to be a very important aspect of the show through out. If you find the mundane stuff extremely boring then the rest of the series might not do much for you either.

It gets better with every episode. One of my favorites from last year.
