I'm not sure if this has been asked or covered before, but basically this (http://10.global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-anime/pid-1004044937/) Naruto R3 boxset has grabbed my attention but it definitely seems to good to be true at about the same price as 1 R2 disk.
Does "Vol 25-52" means episodes 25-52? (I'm guessing it does but just wanna be sure).
Also, the language is listed as Japanese and Cantonese, with Traditional Chinese subs. Anyone confirm that I could watch these disks in Japanese with no subs? Or are the subs burnt in?
Thanks!

If the discs have multiple languages, you can rest assured that the subtitles will be optional.
So did you end up buying this set? How does it look?

Yes, I bought the second and third boxsets (in total, episodes 25-80). I'm very pleased with them - nice sturdy boxes, great sound and video quality etc. I can take pics if you're interested...

I did indeed, yep.
There should be pics of both sets somewhere on my LJ but I'm charging my camera at the minute so I'll post some new pics later on.

OK, here you go:

Box 3 (eps 51-80) front (http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3807/pict03795eo.jpg)
Spine (http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/9617/pict03812gb.jpg)

Separate DVDs (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4008/pict03826hr.jpg)
I also have the first 9 R2's and really there's not a lot of difference, just the price.
The spines of those boxes, IMO, aren't the nicest, but when the box is nice and sturdy and overall very well presented, I'm not all that bothered really!
I keep hearing stories that the first R3 box (eps 1-24) is hard-subbed in Chinese but personally I'm unable to confirm that either way. There is also a box 4 (eps 81-104) which is slightly cheaper than boxes 2 and 3 (because there are a couple less episodes) which I haven't got round to buying yet.
Hopefully there will be more in the future too.

Thanks heaps for the feedback. I've gone ahead and bought the second boxset from YesAsia (it's shipped already!) and will test it out. Packaging doesn't matter to me at all since for a few years now I've been throwing every dvd I buy into large dvd wallets (I was running out of room). So as long as the picture quality is half decent I'll be happy, especially at those prices.
Whether the first box is hard subbed or not I think won't matter either - I think I'll just get the first two Viz sets for eps 1-26 and skip the HK version to be safe.

I bought the R3 Cantonese dub boxsets 1-4. Only the first boxset is hard-subbed. There is no way to turn off the subs which was annoying since I can understand Cantonese! lol

Sorry to re-open this old topic, but I didn't want to post a new topic when this one is still in the database.
I'm thinking about buying most of the set of Naruto from the R3 company, Dynamic Media HK, that has been listed in this topic.
I was wondering if anyone has bought these sets and how the video quality/audio is compared to the Viz/R2 releases? Is the quality poor-er, better, or equal to the Viz/R2 releases of Naruto, or is the quality degraded in some way?
Thanks, and sorry for opening up an old topic, but I just don't want to buy the sets if it is of poor quality or isn't as good as the R1 and R2 releases... >.<
