I usually wait until a week before the first show of a new season airs before I get a general idea of what I want to follow or watch. But since there are upwards of 50 shows airing this season, I figured I would start now.

This thread is by no means just for me though. Feel free to post comments on shows that will air next season, or shows that look interesting to you(or ones that you'll follow and etc). While it may not be the best site, I usually go by Moonphase's listings. The descriptions might not be the best, but they get the general idea across. All airing times are Japanese of course. I know that Rogue and others do a great job at alerting us to new shows and the like, and I don't mean down their work, but sometimes it's interesting to see what others find interesting(sometimes you'll pass over a show because of the site, then come back to it when someone reads off the plot or etc), and to look at newer shows in bulk. I prefer making a list before big seasons, so I can easily check off things that I'm looking forward to.

Yoshinaga-san'chi no Gargoyle (http://www.garkun.com/)

Airs: 04/01 09:00

[ QUOTE ]
Yoshinaga Futaba won the first prize in a lottery. To be surprised, what she received was an unprecedented animal, gargoyle. At first sight, it looked like a stone statute, but it suddenly began to speak, and it said “I’m a gatekeeper of Yoshinaga. Futaba’s brother was too surprise to say anything. Futaba went to the antique shop, Totensha, that had offered her the gargoyle in order to turn it down. But there was a dangerous girl holding a Chinese sword.

[/ QUOTE ]
The characters look a little "young" to me, but the premise seems interesting, and I like the character designs. Hopefully it won't rely on its loli-like cast.

Black Lagoon (http://www.blacklagoon.jp/)

Airs: 04/01 26:35

[ QUOTE ]
Based on the manga by Hiroe Rei.
When Okajima Rokuro visited South East Asia carrying top secret file, he was kidnapped by the pirates riding in a torpedo boat, “Black Lagoon. Although he thought he would be rescued soon, the company sent mercenaries to shut his mouth.

[/ QUOTE ]
This is one I'm really looking forward to. It seems to star a "older" character, the way GITS does. Not to mention it looks like a lot of action if it follows the manga.

Simoun (http://www.simoun.tv/)

Airs: 04/03 25:30

[ QUOTE ]
The story takes place on a planet different from the Earth. They call their planet the Great Air Continent. There, they are born as female. When they become 15 years old, they go to the "spring" and choose their sex to become "adult".
They are at war; the country where the main characters live is invaded by the next country aiming at their superior engine. Day by day, the situation is getting severer. To intercept their attack, they convert the two-seater plane for ceremony, Simoun, into a fighter. Also, they organize an air squad, "Call", which consists of "Mediums". They are girls who don’t decide their sex yet. The girl who can operate "Simoun" is called "Simoun Siwula". Because they have special abilities, they can choose when they become “adult by themselves. However, since the war broke out, they`ve been forced to continue to be pilots, i.e., "girls".

[/ QUOTE ]
The character designs look interesting, and the story seems interesting. It almost sounds like another Vandread.

Zegapain (http://www.zegapain.net/top.html)

Airs: 04/06 18:00

[ QUOTE ]
The story, which occurs in Chiba Prefecture and Maihama, follows a highschool boy who participates in extracurricular activities and is suddenly drawn into the center of combat in group of giant robots.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeh, I know that is a generic plot line, and it happens to tons of series. But I'm giving it a chance because Sunrise is working on it. At the moment, it looks kind of medicore, but I'll give it a shot.

Kamisama Kazoku (http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/kamisama/)

Airs: 05/18 22:30

[ QUOTE ]
Kamiyama Samataro, a sophmore in high school, is the eldest son of family of Gods. He is living with his father who is God, mother who is a goddess, his sisters who are candidates for goddesses, and a help, Tenko, who is his childhood friend and an angel. They are living in a house built 25 years ago in Setagaya. The reason why they live in the human world is because they make Samataro study human world in order to become God.

His parents make miracles without intention and everything goes as he wants. Therefore, he becomes languid and dull, and always scolded by Tenko. One day, he encounters a mysterious transfer student, Kumiko, and falls in love with her. He makes up his mind to make her his girl friend by himself.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeh, I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but it looks and sounds interesting. It sets up a plot that could be something like AMG, except a reversal of roles.

Now for things that air a little later, or have unsure air dates..

Glass no Kantai (http://www.garakan.com/index.html)

Airs: 07.04.2006

Since I couldn't find a plot summary, I'll just comment on the series. I like the character designs, the look of the characters and etc. I see this show is a three way production by Sotsu Agency, GONZO, and Satelight. So I'm really looking forward to it.

AIR GEAR
Black Lagoon
Gintama (http://www.j-gintama.com/)
Ju Oh Sei
KIBA (http://www.kiba-z.com/)
NANA
RAY TV (http://ray.tv/)
Tokko (http://www.wowow.co.jp/anime/tokko/)

A decent list of stuff I have a passing interest in. The animation for AIR GEAR better be solid or I'll duck out early. Ju Oh Sei has an interesting premise and it's by BONES, so that's high on the list. KIBA looks like a fun shounen action title that has some nice looking artwork that I've seen. NANA is NANA, I just wanna know if the music will be any good. RAY and Tokko will hopefully be some seinen goodness, with Tokko coming from the manga by GTO's creator.

I'm semi interesting in Nana also. I hear lots of hype about the manga and the live action movie. So I'll poke my head in to see what it's all about heh.

Ju Oh Sei looked interesting. My list by no means is a final list. As it always happens, I'll end up following a show that I had no intention of watching before the season. But for all the shows coming out this season, it looks like a lot of interesting stuff is coming out.

The only one I'm interested in (right now) is Joshi Kousei ~ Girl's High (http://www.girls-high.net/)

The only real thing I've heard about that is regarding the VA's. If I remember right, isn't Maaya Sakamoto playing one of the girls?

Not to my knowledge. So far the seiyuu cast are as follows:

Chara name - Seiyuu name
Takahashi Eriko - Nabatame Hitomi
Suzuki Yuma - Asano Masumi
Sato Ayano - Noto Mamiko
Kouda Akari - Yukino Satsuki
Ogawa Ikue - Ishige Sawa
Himeji Kyoko - Hikami Kyoko

I'll wait until I actually see the first episode on most of those. However given that I've already seen episodes 1 and 2, I can say I am interested in the already mentioned "Shinigami no Ballad". Also I guess I have some interest in maybe Yoshinaga-san'chi no Gargoyle and Himawari! itself, but it's too early for me to say much beyond that. Ah well.

You're thinking of Ouran High School Host Club (http://www.ntv.co.jp/host/), where Maaya is playing the lead.

Isn't the Joshi Kousei manga coming out in the States at the moment?

I'm surprised that .hack//Roots, ~XXXHoLiC~, and the second season of Tsubasa Chronicle didn't make it up there. I am really looking forward to these shows, as well as the second season of Ah! My Goddess.

Ah, thats who I was thinking of. Think I read it off of your blog Blu heh. Looks like you and Mentar had the same idea was me and are starting to get ready for the 50 some odd shows this season.

You or Mentar(only took a quick look) have the Gonzo/Statelight project airing on April 4th. Is this a confirmed date? If so, I'm really looking forward to the show.

Here's what I'm looking forward to right now. As usual, the best shows will probable turn out to be the ones I pass on at first.

Aria the Natural: I've been a fan of the manga since ADV started (and then stopped) releasing the manga. The first anime series was excellent and considering the sequal shares pretty much all the same caste and crew, this ones a no brainer.

Hime-sama Goyojin: It's from Studio Dean, the same people who brought us the Rozen Maiden anime. It's also apparently being billed as RM spiritual successor. I don't really know what that means, but RM was one of my favourites from last year so I'm certainly willing to give this one a shot.

Himawari: I mainly interested in this because of the character designs. It also has ninjas which means it could be interesting.

Simoun: Yuri mech pilots.

Joshikosei GIRL'S-HIGH: Character designs look good and it seems like the kind of series I would like.

NANA: I'll probably give this at least an episode or two. The manga seems to be popular anyway. I didn't enjoy Paradise Kiss last fall though so I'll be surprised if I end up sticking with this series.

Ah thanks for the reminder, I kind of forgot about this series. Then again I'm not one to keep track of every other series coming out let alone all of them. In any case I'm definitely looking forward to this series as well. Thanks in part to how nice the first one was.

It's certainly difficult to keep track of everything this upcoming season. What is there, something like almost 60+ new series this spring? That's just overwhelming. There certainly won't be a shortage of stuff to watch come april.

I haven't really read much about the new shows, all i know is I can't wait for these shows:

Ah! My Goddess Season 2
Disgaea
School Rumble Season 2
Tsubasa Chronicle Season 2
xxxHolic TV

hopefully more will catch my eye...

I'll be checking out the following:

Nana since its one of my favourite manga and I loved the movie.

Jyu-Oh-Sei since the manga is GREAT and since Bones doesn't ordinarily mess things up, this could be the hit of this season. I'm sad it'll only be 11 episodes, which means a lot of material has to be cut out of the story.

Air Gear since I like the manga. I don't really care about the fanservice, so if they just get the action and fights right, I'll be fine.

Nishi no Yoki Majo Astrea Testament since I need to watch some romantic fantasy, and this looks promising.

xxxholic because of my love for the manga.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles season 2 since I love the manga, though the anime isn't as good so far.

Just a quick reminder that the "spring anime season" starts tommarow(well for me in the EST time zone). This is usually a fun time for me, because in this season, we have at least 7-8 straight days of new shows that have to air. For example 8 seperate shows air on the 1st and 7 on the 2nd.
