GITS: Stand Alone Complex Boxed Set?

I was wondering if there was any news about a potential boxed set for Stand Alone Complex or 2nd gig. Purchasing the "special editions" seems kind of pricey!

There's a UK R2 season 1 box, but nothing in sight for R1. Given the popularity of the show, combined with its TV airings and the histories of both companies releasing it, we probably shouldn't expect season boxes for quite some time.

If you want a box but don't want to buy the special editions, just get the SE of volume 7 (with the metal box) and the regular editions of the rest. That's $200 MSRP total, which is in line with what a 6-to-7 volume series with box costs.

The 1st season was kinda odd... the metalic box tin came with Volume 7. I'm assuming that's how it will be with 2nd GiG since I have yet to see any mention of a box set for volume 1-4, unless I missed something.

The 1st season was kinda odd... the metalic box tin came with Volume 7. I'm assuming that's how it will be with 2nd GiG since I have yet to see any mention of a box set for volume 1-4, unless I missed something.

I've seen 1-3s SEs at Best Buy and none of them had a box so as you said it will most likely be with V7. I just hope they add something other than a shirt this time.

Each of 2nd GiG SEs come in its own metallic dvd case.

But since each of the SE versions is coming in a non-standard size case, that means when it comes to putting out the last volume Bandai/Manga has to make this decision:

1. Put out v7 SE in a metallic case matching the others.
2. Put out v7 SE in a metallic case + an artbox to hold all seven SE volumes.
3. Put out v7 RE in a standard case.
4. Put out v7 RE in a standard case + an artbox to hold all seven RE volume.

It's most likely they will go with 1. and 3., assuming that people who were buying the SE releases will want their set to match, and assuming that people who were buying the regular releases aren't interested in fancy packaging. I doubt they would consider something like releasing an SE version with a box designed to fit the regular releases; it was merely a fortunate coincidence that it worked out that way for the first series, and shouldn't be taken as an indication of things to come.

my complaint about the season one metallic tin box was that the dvds don't fit in side by side, but rather behind one another. So if I want volume 7, I gotta pull out all the others.... not fun. I hope 2nd GiG will be a more traditional arrangement, metal or not.
