and the return of the ADV Driller Team /images/graemlins/wink.gif
at least the drillholes aren't as extreme as the times the ADV Slasher slashes were
I might pick up something /images/graemlins/happy.gif

How bad is the slash actually? I'm seeing a few I might pick up to finish off a collection or two.

now its just a neat little drill hole thru the upc(if you can call drill holes neat). In the the first ADV sales, the were some huge slashes thru the upc, I guess it depends on how mad the guy with the razor was at the time... /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif
If you care about pristine packaging(of course you could always buy replacement cases, but the hole is going to be in the cover anyway), don't buy from an ADV sale, if you just want to own the show for a heavyly discounted price and don't care about the little drill hole... knock yourself out /images/graemlins/happy.gif

The collector in me says to get pristine cases. The cheap person in me says otherwise and continually points out that there will be a new format one day to make all my nice stuff null and void. Ah well, I'm rather indecisive. Thanks for the heads up though!

My Mr Collector always gives my Mr Cheap concessions for the right price /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif and to hope that all next generation players do have legacy support for dvds(I think at least the current Next gen standards - HD-DVD and BR - do) /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is it me or did this one seem a little slimmer in its stock than normal - there were a LOT more gaps than normal IMO.
I didn't see anything at first glance that screamed at me to buy it this time, but we'll see - there's plenty of time this weekend for me to spend money...

There are also the minor details of your CC getting charged right away. High shipping charges. Taking forever to ship. No tracking whatsoever. A few horror stories of those neat drill holes going all the way thru inserts and discs. Almost non-existent customer service when you do have a problem. A few have had to do CC chargebacks just because ADV CS would never get back to them. Definitely a buyer beware kind of sale. Personally, I just wait for them to show up in the TRSI bargain bin. Same prices. Much better service. And undamaged merchandise to boot.

Well, ADV seems to love me /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif and TRSI's shipping is almost as bad or worse to Canada than ADV. However, I'll get some from TRSI and some from ADV. How I cherish these sales.

The ADV site is still not ready for prime time. The link for the sale takes you to a list where every single DVD link takes you to a page which contains no info, and says the item is sold out. You have to click on little sale menu on the left, and then on the section of the alphabet that you want. The list of DVDs from here works fine, and you can actually purchase something. Of course, I am looking at the site using Gentoo Linux, so something could be messed up on my end. Both firefox, and IE6 (using Wine) did the same thing.

Yeah. I don't mind these sales. Heck, even when I ordered from the very first one the slashes weren't that bad. Not as neat as they have been lately (I barely noticed one on the Those Who Hunt Elves thinpack I bought), but still not as bad as I've heard.
But yeah, seems slimmer pickings this time around. Was hoping to pick up the new Maburaho and some more of Yugo the Negotiator, but oh well. Stuff I'd recommend from what they have is Rune Soldier and BASToF Syndrome.

Yeah, you're not the only one having that problem. For a moment, I thought that everything had just sold out already. But the Manga seems to be running fine. So I don't know what's up with it.

All the glitches appear to be fixed...
Normally I'ld buy everything I could, but this sale is miniscule compared to all the others. I'd love to see a free item included with the next sale.
Lots are 1.00 more (or less)at TRSI, so I'll get most there. But for things like Chance Pop Session and Kaleido Star, those are musts.

Speaking of which, when do titles get dropped into the Bargain Bin or Close Out sections? Is it normally after a certain amount of time has passed after it was released? Or after the series is discontinued for production?
And why do some art boxes are listed in the Bargain Bin while the volumes are regular price? For example Chorno Crusade? But then again, there's Neo Ragna, which volumes are in the Bargin Bin, but art box is still $35ish.
Thanks

so with ADV sales you have no idea weather you got the item you want or if you didn't. If thats the case then ADV really needs to do a huge overhaul of how they do things.

Depends. And there's no guarantee. Mostly seems to boil down to the law of supply and demand and some marketing. A lot of what was listed during ADV Slasher sales does seem to wind up in the bargain bin whenever ADV wants to really get rid of inventory. Recently, it seemed that whenever a thinkpak was inevitable, the singles would end up in the bargain bin. That happened for a number of series including Wedding Peach V1 - V5 but not for V6 - V10 even though the second thinpak box set is out now. DLW has indicated that ADV has changed the way they release thinpaks so who knows if Wedding Peach V6 - V10 will every wind up on the bargain bin. That may also depend on if DLK can work out a deal or not. As far as Chrono Crusade, DLW has always indicated it was a good seller so it's likely that the Chrono Crusade V1 + box was an oversupply of the artboxes only and/or a loss leader for marketing purposes.

[/ QUOTE ]That kind of feedbazk has been going on for over a year but ADV really doesn't seem to care about retail sale but rather just getting rid of inventory. Still they did managed to medicate the Slasher to a much more sedated version of his or her initial self and a few other minor improvements but it's been mostly business as usuaL...

They're put in the Bargain Bin when Shawne gets special bargain bin pricing for them.

ADV does not send confirmation email.
You can send an email to them and ask about it. I do not think that they will tell you anything until after it has shipped, then they will give you a tracking number. But I am not sure about that. They might give you an order confirmation if you ask for it.

Opps. You are correct.
I looked again and I do have confirmations from previous sales. I just had them saved in the wrong folder.
Sorry for the misinformation.

I was about to jump in this thread and ask the same thing. Didn't get one myself this time. Hope the order went through okay, since I finally made up my mind to blind buy Wedding Peach!
