What is the difference between Gundam Wing: The Complete Operations DVD Set which retails for $200 and Gundam Wing DVD Collection 1 (Hyb) (Anime Legends) for $50 plus Gundam Wing DVD Collection 2 (Hyb) (Anime Legends)for $50.
Why pay the extra $100?
Also if I am a fan of Gundam Seed would I like these?
Thanks

The collection that is $200 was released a long time ago and is all ten individual discs released in one huge box. The other collection is just two bricks. The only way it would be worth shelling out the extra cash is if you prefer regular dvds instead of bricks.
I haven't seen Gundam Seed. Wing was the first and only Gundam I have seen, and I honestly wasn't crazy about it.

From what I've been able to determine, labelling only. Essentially the "anime legends" is a cheaper re-release of an existing title. I don't believe any extras have been stripped out, nor has anything been added in (to my knowledge). They may have put slightly newer trailers on the discs, however that is pure speculation.

I liked Wing and Gundam Seed.... but if you liked say, Heero as a main character uh... Kira will not be your cup of tea. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif Oh, how that expression makes me laugh. But yeah, if you liked the other political ish elements Gundam Seed is okay.. the middle is boring but it gets a lot better after that.

The boxed set is the collected version of the original release of Gundam Wing, the anime legends version just takes the disks and puts them in 2 bricks, unless you hate bricks with a passion, the anime legends version is a sweet deal. Bandai doesn't strip their collections of extras.

At heart all Alternate Universe Gundam (G Gundam might be an exception to the rule) shows retell the story of the the original Gundam series one way or another, Gundam Wing is the most psylosophical of the bunch as it shows the position of ultimate pacifism (Sanc Kingdom and Relena) and how the aristocracy controls the way of the world for their own interests The Rommefeller Foundation and multiple Gundams blowing enemy mecha to scrap
just to remind you, neither the Complete collection or the Anime Legends version include the Gundam Wing Ova/Movie Endless Waltz that tells the ending of the Gundam Wing saga, with the Gundams redesigned by Katoki

I noticed he had FMP up there on his collection list. Sagara is an almost direct rip of Heero. Well, actually, he pretty much is. Except the Gundam Wing series takes him very seriously. FMP pokes fun at how ridiculous the concept would be in certain situations that can come up in reality, and how awkward a character like that can be socially.

The new collections are cheaper version of the boxset split into two bricks. Usually Bandai DVDs in collections are the same as the original retail.
As for the series, since you've seen Seed, Hero is the lead character that is very militaristic and doesn't suffer from most of the weaknesses that you usually see Kira expressing through out Seed. Seed has essentially 5 main pilots and with their diverse personalities, the action (which is a lot greater than Seed) it drew me into the story. The story is very heavy with politcal undertones about war (but not in the same sense as in Seed). So is Seed a better series? I would have to say yes, but Wing still holds up for me as my favorite Gundam after all these years and after the numerous Gundam series I've seen. So I can easily reconmend it.

I'm the same way. Even though I think Seed is better than Wing. Wing still holds up as my favorite Gundam series.

Not to mention, you may want to get the Gundam Wing: Episode Zero manga (only one volume), which is a prolouge to the series. Actually, it's more like deleted scenes by Katsuyuki Sumisawa (Gundam Wing's story writer).
