View Full Version : Re: The '06 Moé Invitational Tournament Championship - Kaho vs. Hinako

It is the final battle. From over 250 characters, we're down to the last two standing. Only one can be declared the winner of the '06 Moé Invitational Tournament.
Kaho (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kaho4lh.jpg) vs. Hinako (http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hinako5jk.jpg)
Can Hinako lure enough of Anna's supporters to overtake Kaho? Or will Kaho persevere and take the Championship?
Please choose who you think is more ''moé''.
Eh, I guess it doesn't hurt to go another round. Kaho all the way. Just look at her. She's utterly adorable.
By the way, that avatar of Akiha you have there. Is there a full image? I want. I need. Now. Point me to it.

My vote is the same as the last two times:
Hinako.
Kaho is good, Hina-chan is better. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Well... since we're considering moe here, there's really no contest with this match. Had to give my vote to Kaho.

As stated in the other thread, I'm voting for Kaho. It is now her destiny to win this tournament. Come on Kaho!

Although I don't like the idea of stringing this tournament longer than it should be, I still voted for Kaho.

Wow, I never knew the Sister Princess characters were so popular /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif. I wonder how they'd do in the Anime Draft? I'd guess they wouldn't do very well, but it would have been interesting to see....

Same here. I've mostly heard that this was a terrible series so I stayed away, but now that I've seen how well these characters have done in this tournament, I'm actually thinking about reconsidering. I still have a feeling that I won't like it though.
Anyway, no votes in this final round for me. Anna was the last semi-decent moé character that I knew so I'll just let the Sister Princess fans decide between the two.

That's probably why Haruka made it to the final round. She's one of the least moe characters in SisPri, but somehow she advanced to the Finals. We should probably call Haruka the George Mason University of moe characters: Most people expected her to lose in the first round, let alone advance to the final round. Yet just like those gritty, determined Patriots of Fairfax, VA, Haruka somehow advanced to the Final Six (and promptly got bounced after the first round of voting. But then, Haruka didn't exactly beat what you would consider moe heavyweights; GMU had to defeat three of the last seven national champions to advance to the Final Four.)
To be honest, I'm also very surprised at the popularity of Sister Princess, at least in the AOD community. Over at the ANN forums, I feel that I'm the only member of the ANN community that actually likes SisPri, so I feel more comfortable discussing the series here that at ANN.

Sister Princess seems to be one of those shows where the people who do not like it feel the need to tell the whole world, frequently and loudly, how horrible the show is. While those who do like it, including me, just quietly watch the show.
This is probably, at least in part, due to the fact that some people believe that they should not like the show and hesitate to admit that they do. That would explain why it does relatively well in a secret ballot.

This match fills me with a profound sense of inertia.

As I said, SP is a strict love it or hate it show. Some people loathe it to the core of their beings, others respect it for what it is--a goldmine of cuteness and moeness, and a pure wish-fulfillment harem show.
I don't think you can really judge the results of this tournament as popular really. Of the two non-SP characters in the finals, one was from an unlicensed show(Kurumi), and one was from a show that hasn't been released yet(Anna). Meanwhile, Sakura from CCS, who almost everyone knows and loves, was out fairly early. So you can't really say the results are based on popularity.

Yup same here as I at least knew Anna from the few chapters of the manga. So I broke my word and voted in the first two finals. Now I have nothing so I too will let the SP fans battle it out.

I don't know if this will produce some extra votes or not, but when Sister Princess was being released in Japan, there was an ad for the future release of Volume 5 (Angel 05) that had a cute picture of Hina and Kaho in embrace. It's a pretty cool picture, so see for yourself:

This is my cool SP pic (it has Kaho in, so is on-topic)

I got it before I knew what SP was, I wanted to pad out an order from some ebay store or other and liked the look of it.

I had to go with Kaho since she's my fave of the Sister Princess sisters. Plus, Cynthia Martinez did her "You can do it, big brother!!" cheer for me AnimeBoston 2005.... so kawaii ::melts in puddle of smitten-goodness::
and the best line of all of Sister Princess is delivered by her... "you want... some sugar??" ::then Wataru drinks straight from the sugar bowl that he thinks is he teacup::

And there you have it. I see a drop of eight voters, but thery're all fuddy-duddy killjoys anyway and should go sit in a corner /images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I mean, c'mon, just look at her. She's utterly adorable.
Good show, Aya. Next year should be fun too.

Well, I voted for Hina-chan but I don't feel bad about Kaho winning. They are both more than Moé enough to satisfy me.
Thanks again for doing this. It was fun.

Thus Kaho has taken her rightful place as the dark lord of ultimate evil and.... oh wait this is a moe contest. Seriously I'm glad to see Kaho win. Not exactly my first choice, but it's a choice I can accept. Which is what matters the most.
