Mushishi OVA/TV & Similar

I've enjoyed this series but I'm confused on the actual episode count. Exactly how many are there for broadcast? And now I'm hearing the rest is an OVA release ... just how many episodes total is this series?

ALSO, are there any other shows like Mushishi I may like? I can think of Kino's Journey as one possibility, but are there any others?

Yeah, Kino's Journey is probably the closest you'll get.

There are going to be twenty-six episodes total, but the final six will be released as OVAs.

Actually, the final six will be aired but only on cable TV. So, the last 6 episodes cannot be properly called OVAs as that means straight to video before any TV broadcast.

Oh, thanks for clarifying. I thought I saw someone give air dates for them once (in May, IIRC), but everyone else kept calling them OVAs...
