Zeta Gundam Question

I've just finished watching the second disc of the third volume of Zeta Gundam, and I've really only got one unanswered question. Who are those kids Quattro brings with him back into space? Why does he bring them? Do they explain later? Have they already explained and I just missed it? This has really been bugging me, and any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly they are orphans, can't remember why he brought them onto the Argama. Then again perhaps they aren't explained, they're only (annoying) comic relief characters afterall.

As slightly OT. Its weird re-watching MSG after watching all Zeta (&amp; ZZ), &amp; seeing how the characters were in its first series. But especially <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>Katz as a kid, knowing what happens.</span>
