This is a series I've been wanting to check out for about 2 years. I was really annoyed to hear it got edited (with a "black blur" over offending gore etc IIRC) as I was really interested in it.
I'm 99% likely I'll enjoy it as a Go Nagai fan but to anyone who has it or has seen it, are the edits bad enough to avoid the show completely? I don't really want to go down the R2 route as the show can be picked up quite cheaply on R1 but is that the best option?

oh you mean demon BORED dante? thats how I feel about it. I'm a huge Go nagai fan and this one wasn't so great. The story was BLAHHH and the edits didnt' help.

Heh. Yeah but I really loved (I mean really loved - it's my favourite Go Nagai series) Shuten Doji and it seems to be generally regarded as one of his worst shows so I think I'll get some enjoyment out of this /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But yeah, it's all about those damn edits. I don't wanna be watching it going "was that edited?" every minute.

well the edits were i guess more boobies and some blood, but the story wasn't all that.

I think if you didn't know it had been edited you would need to look hard to spot them. They're usually black fades over some detail or extra clothing on some naked humans. Once you do spot how it's done you start looking at every dark corner and wondering what might have been there.

Story-wise it's not Go Nagai's best work by a long way. I though Shuten Doji was average, and DLD isn't as good IMO.
