Hi All,
Just wanted to get your opinions on "Samurai Gun" (which a while back, I got confused with "Gun x Sword" /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif based on name alone, lol).
* How is the show overall?
* How good is the ending / wrapping up plot threads, etc.?
I read the AOD Review and it seemed pretty down about it; just wanted to get a 2nd opinion.
Thanks!

The AOD review is, if anything, entirely too wildly enthusiastic about the series. After reading it, I wondered if they had seen a different show than I had.
It's quite possibly the worst thing I've ever watched. And I wanted to like it, I really did - I even won the first disc for free, and what's not to like about a show where the trailer focuses on the BLOOD!, GUNS!, and WHORES!?
Short answer? Just about everything. The characters are flat, undeveloped, and almost entirely unsympathetic. The plot is nonsensical at best. It might be OK if you're in the mood for brainless violence, but I found that it was entirely too horrid even for that.
I can't comment on the ending, or how it wraps things up - I couldn't force myself to sit all the way through the second disc.

I only watched the first volume (got my copy for free too) and it was one of the worst shows I have seen. Terrible characters, dumb action scenes, and an uninteresting story. Seriously, avoid it at all costs!
I don't know what samurai shows you have seen, but I'll guess you haven't seen The Dagger of Kamui, which was made over 20 years ago, but is 20 times better.

I won that first disc too (my only instant win to date), and still never bothered to get the rest of the series yet.

My friend gave me the first dvd for a x-mas gift and this may sound bad, but the show was so bad I gave it back for his B-day

Ok, this is just funny - the four people to respond to this thread all got a free copy of the first disc, and still couldn't stand the show. I guess it really is as bad as I remember it being!

At least the dub's good, right? Although apart from Kyle Jones marks, I'm not sure I can really recommend it to anyone. It really is offensive to the eyes and brain on about 5 or 6 different levels.

I got the first disk and it was bad and I had already preordered the second. I still haven't worked up the motivation to watch the 2nd volume yet.

Um, me too-ing here (given the first volume, no desire to complete the set) but has anyone seen this series all the way through?
Does it perhaps turn into a superlative work of gory, cheesy drama or action?
Has anyone (aside from the AoD reviews) seen volume 2 yet? /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

I watched/own the entire thing. Its pretty dry, you think the plot is going somewhere in the end with the main characters past, but when you see the ending your just left with a 'WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT' feeling. I am thinking about selling all mine off.
The only thing I found really good was the Fun With Audio extra's, but even so they just reminded me of Samurai Deeper Kyo's extra's.

I'll also echo everyone response. Thank god for netflix, I watchd the entire disk and was sooo dissapointed. I mean I don't see many who liked the show and I can see why. The whole story was just boring. Thank god I only got to see one disk for I didn't EVEN bother to get anymore. Blood, guns, whores?? more like Bored, Ghetto, Wack!
