Anyone have bad experiences on eBay? I tried to sell some stuff awhile back getting 2 buyers, 1 of who did not send the money and did not communicate. /images/graemlins/relief1.gif The second one, I bought a Chrono Crusade thinpak for a good price, but the seller hasn't responded to my emails and the item hasn't arrived in the mail yet. /images/graemlins/sad.gif

The guy who bought my Kiddy Grade v1 LE + hat box said he sent payment and but it was bounced back because he didn't know how to mail outside the US. And then I never heard from him again. Never saw the money either.
My dad was almost bitten but I caught him dealing with a scammer in Eastern Europe when he was looking to buy a Toshiba notebook off eBay. It was pretty obvious to me, but I can see how an unaware person could be caught by such a fake listen.

unfortunatly, the only bad experience I've ever had was with a former user on this board.. sent out the money order, got a message saying that he recieved it and when I checked back a few days later, he was no longer a registered user...

My only bad experience with Ebay was seemingly a fluke. I was looking to track down a copy of the Geobreeders box with both discs (back before CPM re-released it). It was about the 5th time I'd tried to by it online, through Ebay or other websites. The other four times the seller, like clockwork, would write back and say, "Oh sorry, we don't have that in stock, we'll have to backorder it", and of course, they could never get it.
Finally, I bought it from this guy, who had 100% feedback and over 120 transactions. Sent payment immediately. No word from him for three days. I check back, and find his feedback percentage has dropped from 100% down to about 98.5%. I look again, and there are like three feedback listings from the past three days, from buyers saying things like "money was sent, but no contact from seller", "item never received", "it's been over three weeks", etc. F***ing figures! Had to wait a week or so to file a Paypal complaint and eventually got my money back. The guy's account was closed by Ebay for fraudulent activity a couple days later.
On the plus side, I did eventually get the box I was after.

Yeah. One non-payer for a CD which I never sent out, one dick who kept arguing about shipping costs for manga and would only buy the items after I charged him the exact shipping amount which took him ages to "research". Finally one guy who decided to keep my £35 or so for some Naruto plushies and never bother sending the things out.
Other than that, it's all been plain sailing.

Once I asked for the box sets of Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, only to realize that Cowboy Bebop's set had been discontinued for a while, so I asked for NGE with Trigun instead. Not realizing that both sets were on average about 150-200 dollars each, I didn't expect my mom to accidentally get two bootlegs off eBay for really cheap. I decided to save up for the real NGE set and just send the bootleg back, and I have yet to get the Trigun collection, but I'm working on it.

This isn't limited to anime-related stuff, right? I had one guy, who took my immediate payment, then proceeded to leave town, get in an accident, have his mother die,...I forget what else. I DID eventually get the item, and it was only bent a little bit. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif I hate using this story though, since it is just possible this guy was having the worst time of his life and I was just along for the ride.
The second worst thing was not seller related. I was buying those Rocket USA Futurama tin signs, and when one got to my house my mailman decided it was OK to bend this thing into a U-shape and stick it inside the mailbox. Now, this was a metal sign and it took at least some effort to bend it like that, so you would think the moron would have gotten a clue somewhere along the line. It was marked "do not bend" too.

Apart from those 9-10 non-paying bidders, there are several sellers/Ebay/Paypal/fellow Ebayers bad experiences.
Sellers :
1 .I simply asked about a 3lb shipping price from a soap seller for a 3.5oz soap. The seller replied, calling me cheap ass for not wanting to pay $7 for a hand-made soap and called me a pathetic shrew and I should go kill myself. That seller even said the box she uses to ship is 1lb heavy. I was like, "WTH!? A normal small box is only about 2-4ozs heavy."
2. Sellers kept pestering me to leave feedback if not, will leave negs for me.
Fellow Ebayer
1. There's this guy, justgogogo. I happened to outbid his son (forgot his nick but all he ever did was to bid and not pay for items) twice for 2 anime auctions. He emailed me, threatening to kill me, saying that he's rich and he would find out my address and hire someone to run me over etc etc. Think he harrassed me for 3 days before I finally blocked his email address. He tried bidding on all my auctions and I cancelled and banned him. I complained to Ebay, sending those threat emails to them but obviously Ebay didn't do anything even though it's listed in their policies that nobody is allowed to threaten or harrass someone else.
Ebay
My roommate had 5 Xbox 360 last November for sale. Well, he had them on hand. He used the same pic for all 5 auctions. Freaking Ebay took down all the auctions when the bids went up to $2000 and suspended his account on grounds of suspected fraud. Asked to see his receipts. Roommate faxed the receipts, well, he only had the Dell receipt for 3 Xboxes. The other receipt which contained the other 2 Xboxes, he couldn't find it. Therefore, happily, Ebay said that it was a fraud and suspended all the Ebay accounts associated with the address and froze all our Paypal accounts!!! My roommate had about $3000 in Paypal balances!! It was only about 2 months later, with multiple pictures, letters etc then my roommate and I got our Ebay + Paypal accounts back.
Another time Ebay suspended my account was there's this guy who lives in the same state as I do, he bidded on my several auctions over a period of 3 months, some he won, some he didn't. Then one day, out of nowhere, Ebay emailed me and said my account was suspended for shill bidding? I was like, HUH? Why? The CS rep said they suspected that the other bidder is my friend and was helping me to push up the prices. I even gave Paypal the Paypal receipts that guy paid me. If he were my friends, why the hell would he pay for those auctions and why would I have DC#s to prove that he received all the packages? Think it was after 2 weeks, they gave me back my account, saying that they made a mistake. What mistake it was, they never explained. My only guess is, that guy lives in Napa Valley and I live in LA County. Ebay never apologized either.
Paypal
Paypal suspended my first account because I did a chargeback on the bootlegs sent to me when it was advertised as legitimate USA releases from Pioneer. I did approach Paypal for help first but Paypal said they would not do anything with item not as described, meaning, TOUGH LUCK SUCKER! Upon advice from my credit card company, I sent back the bootlegs DC# and credited me back for that amount.

WTF death threats? Damn your luckys beyond bad it's amazing how psychotic people are. Can't say im surprised by the fact that E-Bay didn't do a damn thing despite their policies. E-Bay and Paypal are a pain in the ass the horror stories with paypal continue.
Now the only experience I remember forgot the seller and details but I had to go through hell to get the right item and it took over a month. They claimed they would reimburse me for what it cost to ship the item back they didn't do that. Not to mention I couldnt get ahold of customer service at all. That's the only one I remember

My wordst experience was when I bought something for like $45-50 and the guy never sent it, and kept making up excuses as to why he couldn't contact me. I still never got the item.

Same thing happened to me, except it was for the Zeta Gundam LE box. I didn't win the auction, but he sent me one of those "second chance opportunity" things so I went for it. Long story short, it's 5 months later and still no Gundam. I filed a claim but I only got back about $10 (which still hasn't been credited back to me, now that I think of it). The seller's ID was watchthatman. Friggin' scumbag.
Before that, a won an auction from a seller called mumstreasureshoppe for some OOP DC Comics trades. Sent money, never got my books, seller closed out their account. At least they left me positive feedback...

Wow. Mine seems pretty light in comparison. I got a seriously defective Risky Safety set for cheap and sent it back.
But I saw a case on, I think, Judge Judy once where this kid was advertising cheap electronics and sending bricks wrapped in newspaper. Claimed someone at the post office was stealing packages and forwarding on the bricks. Kids, FYI, if someone at the post office is stealing stuff they don't go to the trouble of shipping fake packages. Your order was "lost in transit".
With the prevalence of unpoliced bootlegs on eBay and Amazon and every other auction site, I just stopped doing business with them. Even 2nd-hand books, I go through a reputable dealer because there is no standard by which all the after-market dealers operate. Brand new? Factory-sealed? Plastic wrap and a hairdryer looks just like it in some cases. I received books listed as "fine" that had gravy on the cover and torn pages. And the main sites will publicly say they don't allow such shenanigans, but never actively do anything about it. Caveat Emptor indeed.

My cousin bought a new sony camcorder from thailand on her trip there. The problem was it only saved in PAL format. So I helped her with the auction by using my name right. So anyway, one guy did a buy it now and then when they tried to send me the money I got an email from "paypal" saying the money was in my account. So I check and it wasn't. I emailed the person back and the person said yes the money was there, I did a check on the "email addy" hahah the "paypal" confirmation email saying the money was in my account was actually from AFRICA! WTF!! thank god I was smart that day.
