I haven't had time to check the translation yet.

Apart from censorship, you get stuff like bad editing out of Japanese sound effects on page 102.

In answer to Jadawin's question in the volume 4 thread (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1299219&page=0&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1), the omake pages are included and translated in the CMX edition.

After the first couple of volumes I'd hoped the sales would be bad enough for them to can it. While that wouldn't necessarily mean they'd relaunch it uncensored, there would have been that much less of a chance for CMX or another company of trying this with anything else (would be hilarious in a way to see something like Gantz get this treatment).

To be honest, I'd rather the title not get an English release than how it is now. Sorry to all the people who buy it because there's not much other choice and the people that just don't care, but that's my view.

American companies: if you aren't confident that you can release a title without censorship, just pass on it and go for something else. Yeesh.

I personally think they shouldn't be charging full price for only half the content. But just buy Airmaster for your Oh!Great fix and Crimson Hero for Mitsuba fix.

I've never seen the Gantz manga but I can imagine how terrible the edits would be.

I agree with you on the censorship issue though I doubt we will ever get out wish on that issue. Considering all these censored releases in various media forms seem to sell probably because people just don't care which is quite unfortunate since it just encourages more censorship. Well that's how I see things at least.

Ya[]wa is a reference to the legendary Japanese rock singer/songwriter Yazawa Eikichi, whose first solo album was titled "I Love You, OK".

Reference to two different kendo clubs in the Japanese edition is changed to aikido clubs in the CMX version for no apparent reason.

Apart from the change being for no apparent reason, it's (in a sense) more "inaccurate".

In that scene, the teacher was talking about how the various clubs at the school developed from the martial arts ryu of old, eg that the first kendo club at the school developed from the Shinkage Ryu, and the second kendo club developed from the Maniwa Nen Ryu. Although Shinkage Ryu and Maniwa Nen Ryu teach the use of several weapons and although I'm no martial arts expert, my understanding was that both Shinkage Ryu and Maniwa Nen Ryu are predominantly associated with kenjutsu. So it stands to reason that those ryu would be associated with kendo clubs, rather than aikido clubs. The references to martial arts styles etc in Tenjou Tenge show that Oh! great has researched the field. By making such changes, CMX is diluting the factual background of the story.

(However, I'm willing to assume that this was just some - strange - mixup by CMX rather than an intentional change.)
