I did a search, the old thread seems to be dead and thus a new thread for the series. In any case I finished watching the first episode. In any case for those wondering if the anime will be faithful to the game? Forget it. In the first episode alone they've made several changes.
Not to say this means the Disgaea anime automatically sucks. Besides it's possible some of the changes may be for the purpose of speeding up the story. Because after all the anime is only 12 episodes. However the point is purists who want the anime to be 100% faithful to the original will hate the anime.
In any case some examples of changes. Flonne is the one that wakes up Larhl and she appears much earlier. Gordon and crew appear in the first episode instead of much later. Etna appears literally at the end of episode 1 instead of at the start.
However to be honest I am a bit worried about the changes because it may mean several of the fun elements to the game won't make it into the anime at all. Which would be a let down. Of course which elements from the game deserve to make it into the anime the most is a subject for debate, but whatever.

I wonder if they are going to have an episode when laharl has a contest to who would beat him to be the next overlord especially near the end when your servants come to help you in that unfair battle with the overlord from another dimension... but i hope /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Is this overload from another dimension supposed to be a certain character from an NIS game that's similar to Chrono Crusade?

I don't care that the plot isn't the same--the game was good because of the characters, not the plot. I hope the humans aren't given that big a role--I thought the plot of the game took a nosedive when it revolved around the humans.

Definitely. If they wanted plot they would have chosen Phantom Brave or La Pucelle.

I didn't mean priere I meant that HUGE Weivern but then it does a doppleganger attack and you have to fight multiple ones but you can beat him in your second playthrough.... but I never thought they'd use her in the anime because she is a optional boss in the game but who knows /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Well they should make an anime based on each of those games anyway. Because it is their destiny. Also they need an anime based on Rhapsody, etc. Too bad the chances of any of the series being long enough to include cameos is extremely low. Then again since they're rearranging the story of Disgaea and not being faithful to the game that could increase the chance for certain cameos. Who knows?

I was actually pretty dissapointed, although I can't put my finger on anything precisely (although I did fall asleep before the end..)
I'm still not far enough into the game that I know who Gordon and Jennifer actually are.

Having just finished watching the first episode, I'll have to say that so far, I'm definitely not disappointed. There were some obvious changes to the plot, but I still felt an enormous sense of déjÃ* vu which I guess is a mostly good thing. It doesn't matter to me that the anime doesn't start out exactly like the game, because everything else about it felt very faithful to the original, from the music to the character voices, etc. If it followed everything the same, I might just be a tad bored although I'd still of course be glad that there is even an anime based on the game in the first place. I'm just happy that the characters are almost exactly like they are in the game, especially Flonne, who is just awesomeness /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif.
I'll probably only check out the 2nd episode when it becomes available and then wait patiently for the likely official licensed dvds before I watch the rest.

So far I'm not sure what to think about this. Flonne's definately cute, but the episode really doesn't give you an idea of where they're going to go with this series.
