I clicked the Anime Liquidations link at the top of the fourm page and it brought me to BuyRiteDVD. I found what would appear to be a Someday's Dreamers vol. 1 w/ box (http://www.buyritedvd.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.3/it.A/id.846/.f). What concerns me is $9 is awfully cheap, and I also found a result with the same title (but different picture, it was the vol. 1 pic rather than the box pic on this one), but the exact same price. This also doesn't say if it comes with a box or not. And why is Japanese listed as the only language, and the runtime as 6000 minutes? o_O How do I know if this is authentic?

oh its real. Buyrite is a wholesale type company so you gotta buy in bulk reason its cheap. Their other store animeliquidations there no set price where on buyrite you gotta buy atleast 100 dollars worth.

But how do I know the item's really authentic? Do we know they're trsutworthy and don't carry bootlegs? It just seems strange the way it describes the item. It doesn't even note if it has an art box, even though the picture is from the box. o_O

How do I know if it has the art box? And are these new or used?

I just like to mention that any retail link on the top of the AOD pages is a ligit site. /images/graemlins/happy.gif
Edit: Except for some of the auctions at Ebay.

Thanks for the help, though I won't purchase until I know if it has a box or not. I asked them just now via email.

The UPC and catalog numbers match the DVD only version from DvdPlanet's listing.
BTW, I bought the Haibane Renmei series from Buyrite. No problems with them.

I've also bought several discs from them. No bootlegs or problems of any kind.
I use the UPC codes from other stores to check if the disc I'm getting is the LE version.

They sometimes take pretty long to answer you back. However, from experience, usually the one with the more expensive price, that is the dvd + artbox.
Well, at least it's like that before they changed the design of the website. Havn't gotten anything from them since they have the new look since there's nothing new.
Oh, if you buy regular dvds from them and you are thinking of trading them in at stores such as blockbuster, be careful though. Those cheap movies they have, a lot of them are not accepted by Blockbuster since they are released by Canadian studios. I bought some of Jackie Chan's classic martial arts movies and other martial art movies (about 20) from Buyrite. All of them got rejected by BB. The manager even asked me if they were bootlegs.... /images/graemlins/depresse.gif /images/graemlins/knowital.gif /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

Rats. Why would they have two different listings for the same item?

It's ashame they only ship internationally via DHL.
Not the most flexible or competitve of systems.

I like this listing (http://www.buyritedvd.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.3/it.A/id.300/.f) at BuyRite. Man, Dragon Ball looks ... different than I thought. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Some maybe, definitely not all. I thought they were new as well so I ordered a bunch of discs about a year ago, and it turned out that all of them were some kind of used/returned/refurbished copies. They were all in shrinkwrap instead of the usual cellophane, and with some kind of white logo of a movie reel stamped on the back which had then somehow smeared all over the back cover. I got a pencilboard in one of the volumes which had been damaged (looked like someone had tried to rip off the clear plastic layer), a couple of volumes were missing inserts and they had all definitely been handled.
So in short, if you're like me and anal about only buying new stuff, I would avoid buyrite.

I see that's something I never heard about before and it's pretty damn bad. I have had that kind of thing happen before but it was through E-Bay and didn't look handled.

They are mostly, if not all, returns from stores who couldn't sell what they ordered in the first place. BuyRite/Anime Liquidations buy this old stock for pennies and rewrap it, but they're still supposed to be "NEW". Not "perfectly new", but still newer than if your local store likes to remove the discs from their cases and keep them somewhere else.
I bought the second half of Mahoromatic, Tenchi OVAs and Dual from Anime Liquidations and/or Buy Rite DVD. They were all rewrapped but still "new". Some came with LE items, so they were first pressings. Those purchases have to be the best value per dollar I've ever had buying anime.

looks like they have an retail section now.so you don't have to buy "BULK".
btw...does anyone know what their payment options are, credit card, money order, etc.?i couldn't find an listing and didn't want to sign up if it was ccard only.THANKS!
From what I've experienced with Buy Rite, they go ahead and falsely advertise products they have "in stock." Last year, when I was searching for Chobits vol. 1 + box, I foolishly went ahead and ordered it. I went ahead and read customer feedback about the place and the majority of it was negative. So I asked them via e-mail if the item was really in stock. Surprisingly, they responded saying that it wasn't and would cancel my order. I wasn't charged or anything after that, but still the fact that they didn't label it as something out of stock was very misleading.

Did they finally add all of those new anime collections and LE's they were asking us about to their on-line catalog?
