Many Japanese and foreign viewers single out Tanaka Rie's "magnificent acting" ("kareina engi") (http://anime.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/anichara2/1144303861/227) in My-Otome.
Even members of the creative staff for My-Otome have chimed in, including series writer Yoshino Hiroyuki and, especially, director Obara Masakazu. Obara cites Tanaka Rie's "extraordinary performance" in episode 22.
