Forgive the potential repeat thread, but I'm looking for information as to the supposed Burst Angel OAV, whose existence I am still questioning. Haven't really been able to dig up any information on it other than it was planned, created, licensed by Funi and scheduled to show at Anime Expo 2005, but never really heard if that happened or not.
Any info would be appreciated, from official news and external links to first-hand confirmation of it's existence. No rumors please. Thanks in advance.

According to the insert that came with my Burst Angel vol.6, it says: Every story must have a beginning.... and then underneath it says Burst Angel OVA coming in 2006, and there's a picture of Jo with long hair along with another chick in yellow, that I'm assuming is Meg before she colored it brown. That's all I know. Also, at the Burst Angel website if you click on DVD then a menu will come up at the bottom of the screen showing all of the volume numbers and there's a part which says OVA, but if you put your mouse on it, all it says is Coming Soon.

Yeah, that's all stuff I know at this point. Unfortunately, that's where the trail ends. ANN has little info on it, I've heard nothing as to whether Funi actually showed it off at AX 2005, and nothing has been made mention of it seeing release other than their advertisements which are dated. I can't even find confirmation of it's existence in Japan, which is really what I'm looking for. If it WAS completed and exists in some format in Japan, the likelihood of Funi releasing it soon(ish) jumps up a few points. Otherwise, it'll remain in obscurity where it appears to be now.

As far as I know, it hasn't been made yet.
A friend sent me a copy of a poster or ad or something that makes mention of the screening at AX 2005, which I don't believe ever took place.
There's also the ad in the back of the booklet that came with volume 6 of the R1 DVD release, promising a 2006 release, and suggesting via the artwork that the OAV is going to be a prequel that takes place sometime between the flashback episode and the beginning of the series proper.
FUNi's site has a listing for it, but that most likely was included based on information they were given that such an OAV was going to be made in the near future.
The Japanese site makes a brief mention of its planned existence via a flash intro (http://www.baku-ten.net/), but the main site hasn't been updated in a long time and its information is incomplete, so the exclusion of info should not be taken as a denial of its existence, planned or otherwise.
Anime News Network's encyclopedia has a page for it, though the staff information has simply been transported over from the regular Burst Angel series page by an overzealous fan with hopes and dreams but no actual information, and should not be taken as fact, or a confirmation of the OAV's existence.
No listing for a DVD release exists on such sites as Amazon Japan or CD Japan, which seems to be the strongest suggestion that it hasn't yet been made (i.e., by definition, if it was completed then there'd be a DVD release for it).
So, it could still be a work in progress that's behind schedule for any number of reasons, or it may have been aborted altogether for any number of reasons. Or, it could actually exist, was screened at AX 2005, has been released on DVD and went OOP due to being very limited or was a special mail-in thing for Japanese fans, and will show up here sometime this year as promised by FUNimation since they did in fact license it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

That "overzealous fan" was me who added all that info to the Burst Angel OVA page. I did that quite some time ago, I believe I did it near the end of 2004.

I recall on one of the commentaries for Volume 6, somebody mentioned that they hadn't seen the OAV yet but that it was coming, which suggests that it was indeed made but that production on the dub hadn't begun yet.
So this is supposed to be a prequel? That sucks- I was hoping for a continuation of what happened in the last episode instead.

Acctually its not so bad, if there is going to be a sequel of any kind it should be longer then an OVA which would be much better considering Meg needs ALOT of time to develop to be a better character then she was in Burst Angel

I can only confirm that the Burst Angel OAV was not shown at AX 2005 because it was still not completed by then. Unfortunately that's just about all the info I have on the matter.

Least it's some info and that's better than nothing.

I think that's probably the last nail in the coffin. Since I can't gather any info on it's actual existence, I'm just going to assume for my own piece of mind that it's either still in the works or has been scrapped altogether.
Hopefully it'll see the light of day in the near future.
