View Full Version : RentAnime.com?
Is there anyone here who's used RentAnime.com and has any comments on their experience? I've been pretty happy using GreenCine for anime rental the past couple of years, but living on the East Coast means I'm usually waiting a few days for new discs (AFAIK, GC only ships from their San Francisco HQ), and I'm noticing that GreenCine is starting to take its time getting some discs -- the last volume of Shingu and vols. 2 and 3 of Doki Doki School Hours are still in "request that we add this to our catalog" status.

While this may sound like blasphemy to some, I switched from GreenCine to Netflix about 18 months ago. I loved GC, but the shipping times (I'm in CO) were killing me: 2-3 days minimum each way.
Netflix actually has dramatically improved their anime selection. Though the rarer stuff is still not to be had, they have (IMO) a reasonably thorough catalog (few things that I have searched for have come up empty). New releases are generally available on the anime release date, though you're competing with the otaku out there for them (I'm lucky about 33% of the time).
If you're looking for the hentai, don't bother. Their selection is minimal, but hentai's not my cup o' tea anyway, so they suit me just fine.
They do, incidentally, have all 5 volumes of Shingu and 1-3 of Doki Doki currently available...
I looked into RentAnime, as they're associated with Animenation, so they're bound to "get it" when it comes to availability of rarer titles. I ultimately chose not to go with them, however, as they'd be shipping from FL, so my shipping times would likely have been the same or worse than with GC. You may have better luck with RentAnime, since you're already on the East Coast.
