2006 Anime Diva Open: Final 1st RD Kawasaki & Hiroshima Sub Regions

Monkey Biz is proud to present the second day of the 2006 Anime Diva Open: Road To Tokyo.

In this thread we have eight contests spread across two sub regions. The 1st round will last three days.

Note the 2006 Anime Diva Open is looking to crown the anime lady most epitomizes the essence of a diva. Whether it’s the classic idea of supreme female entertainer, strong independent willed woman or even an outlandish bold girl.

From the great city of Kawasaki the first round of the Yokohama Eastern Regional (http://home.comcast.net/~ape2020/Diva/Yokohama_Eastern_Regional.pdf) tourney finishes up with a bang. This brachet looks to be real interesting with a few tourney favorites starting out here. Will the ultamate diva hail from this grouping?

I'll go with Ran - she is the top gal in Shibuya and seems to have a knack about being good in anything (apart from school of course) - Yukari is a bold character, but aside from her English skills, I don't think she can match to Ran...

And they call me...and they call me...PIXY MISA! The Diva who wishes to be one...gotta vote for Misa.

1st RD Kawasaki Sub Region – Himuro Izumi vs Rally Vincent
Izumi, Izumi, Izumi, Izumi, Izumi!!! She is probably one of my two favourites to win the thing, mainly because two of my other favourites are against each other (see below)

1st RD Hiroshima Sub Region – Tatiana Wiesla vs Urumi Kanzaki
Urumi - she's so delightfully bold and evil, I love it.

1st RD Hiroshima Sub Region – Layla Hamilton vs Rue/Princes Kraehe
I hate you. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif This is the one I alluded to - the ultimate circus performer in Layla Hamilton vs. the ultimate ballet performer in Rue/Kraehe. This one is incredibly tough, but I expect Rue to probably win this - so I'll go with Kaleido Star...damn this one, but on the bright side, whoever goes through here's gets my next vote.

1st RD Hiroshima Sub Region – Sister Rosette Christopher vs Urd - I actually prefer Rosette as a character, but Urd I feel has the more diva feel...I know, lousy explanation, I suck.

Making me choose between Izumi and Rally was an incredibly cruel thing to do! Still, I gave Izumi the edge, given that she did have more time to be developed as a character. And that she's passionate as all get-out.

Okay back here at Monkey Biz central we thought we update the happens of the 2006 Anime Diva Open.

The Kawasaki Sub Region has seen some impressive turnout as many of the contests have torn many fans loyalities many directions. The hot match up of the day seems to be two sports star Himuro Izumi of Princess Nine vs master marksmen and driver Rally Vincent of Gunsmith Cats. Both girls have brought a lot of pride to the table. Which Athletic beauty will win this harsh opening round match?

Over in the Hiroshima Sub Region, its turning out to be a battle of the heavenly spirits (and visions). As the goddesses try to turn back the mortal opponents. Yet is looks like the real contest is between two classic diva types in Layla Hamilton of Kaleido Star vsRue/Princes Kraehe of Princess Tutu. Cirus star or ballet star which will shine brightest?

Yukari (Azumanga Daioh) - I found it interesting that you pitted two Luci Christian-dubbed characters together, but I haven't watched SuperGALS yet so I went with the nutty teacher.
Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) - Now this is the more appropriate tourney for the Major to participate in. Unfortunately I had to vote against one of my all-time favorite characters.

Layla Hamilton (Kaleido Star) - And I thought that voting in the Moe Tournament was hard! Having to choose between one of the best divas in anime and Jessica Boone's best character was too much for me to bear. What made it even worse is the fact that both of these ladies are in Junichi Sato-directed series, and I'm a huge fan of Sato-san. However, despite the internal agony of having to choose, Layla is the epitome of what a diva really is, and I believe that she will eventually win the entire tournament. Of course if Rue/Kraeheyhey wins, than I will support her thoroughout the rest of the tournament. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Yukari vs. Ran - Both fun characters, but Ran fits better IMO
Motoko vs. Minako - Minako's definitely the most "diva"-ish out of the Sailor Moon girls, so works for me.
Misa vs. Saori - Pixy Misa is the best! Haven't seen Mahoromatic, but not enough to deter me from voting here.
Izumi vs. Rally - Don't know either
Tatiana vs. Urumi - Definitely Urumi, though I don't know Tatiana
Layla vs. Rue - ARGHH... you're killing me... Went with Layla because she is closer to the essence of diva in my mind, but still very hard for me to decide.
Belldandy vs. Uzuki - Don't know Uzuki and don't feel strongly enough on Belldandy to vote for her, so abstain.
Rosette vs. Urd - Urd, easily

Yay for Layla and Izumi to advance (though to be fair, I think Layla vs. Rue would have been a good final never mind first round). Wah, Misa lost and to one of my least favourite characters as well...ah well, c'est la vie.
