View Full Version : DVD Planet/Digitaleyes.net Preorder Problem

Hey guys,
For those that are about to pre-order the hentai title "Menage a Twins" (2005) (to be released at May 30) that had the price of $12.95 from Digitaleyes.net/DVD Planet website I say to be aware of a possible problem.
As I recived my order which I made some other items that were In stock, and I checked the bill it had that item as listed as "LOVE GHOST".
Knowing the last time Digitaleyes.net and Kitty Media did a similar mess up with "Slave Nurses" last year, which they replaced it with another title "SS Camp Women's Hell".
So to give you guys a heads-up about pre-order on "Menage a Twins" title, so that this seems to be another mix up happening.
Edit: I called DVD Planet/Digitaleyes.net and they confirmed it was "Love Ghost". So I cancelled it.

I encountered a new pre-order problem.
Anyone else have this problem?
I had pre-ordered Ah! My Goddess Vol. 5 at DVD Planet's (Digital Eyes') AnimeOneStop here:
http://www.animeonestop.com/anime-Details.cfm?info=MBI006307
My order confirmation listed the item as AMG 5, with the same Item # from the link (MBI006307).
However, I just received my shipping confirmation from DVD Planet, and it lists the Item # MBI006307 as "Frightmare"... a different MediaBlasters DVD.
I checked the DVD Planet site for "Frightmare" and it shares the same Item # MBI006307 there (though different from its link):
http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm?info=MBI006159
While AMG 5 at DVD Planet is:
http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm?info=MBI006307
but with its Item # MBI006169.
I called customer service. They promised to mail out AMG 5 & I just have to refuse "Frightmare" when it arrives.
With all these mismatched Item #s, I hope I eventually wind up with AMG 5!!...

Same exact thing happened to me! They said I could refuse the Frightmare, but never mentioned Ah My Goddess. I was wondering why the heck they sent me Frightmare. Guess I better mail them and make sure they'll still send mine. Did you get your Ah My Goddess, or is it still listed backorder like mine?

Still haven't received my Ah! My Goddess Vol. 5 yet... though it is still listed as "Temp. Sold Out" at DVD Planet. When I spoke to the Customer Service Rep., she said that it wasn't in stock yet. Though she did bump up the shipping from Media Mail to Priority for the inconvenience.
/images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
Some other sites still list AMG5 as "On Order"...
even DDD lists the release date as 6/27 instead of the original 5/30.

Maybe MediaBlasters changed the release dates for the online stores, but BestBuy has it though.

Did anybody ever get the DVD for Ah my Goddess #5 they were supposed to get? Mine is STILL listed on backorder, and when I emailed them to ask about it, they said "that hasn't be released yet and will be on July 18th." I was like, uh, no, sorry, but they still have yet to reply to that. Digitaleyes used to be really good about getting on this stuff and fixing it quickly, but it takes days to get a response out of them, and waiting more than 2 months for a PREORDER is ridiculous, especially when they give me false responses afterwards. So again I ask, did ANYONE get this DVD from them? Especially those of you who had the misshipped DVDs like "Frightmare" or whatever it was around release day?

Never got mine, nor that "Frightmare" that appeared in a shipping e-mail. (My credit card wasn't charged, either.) In fact, the order for Vol. 5 doesn't even appear in My Account anymore... just my pre-order for Vol. 6!
I just used one of those $10 Google CheckOut coupons and ordered Vol. 5 at CDUniverse, instead... $14.98 shipped. And THAT order was shipped out yesterday.
If Vol. 5 EVER shows up from DVDPlanet, it's going right back... /images/graemlins/anger200.gif

I used their quote machine and got a confirmation over a month ago. Only thing is, it still hasn't reflected in my account yet.
I've called a total of 6 times now, with the last time them telling me I will receive an email the very same day. Still no email four days later.
Maybe people have had luck with them in the past, but after I get my credit (and use it), I am NEVER EVER shopping with these guys again.

pick up the phone and call them.
cs isnt gonna be much help since if you say its not in the system anymore... then they cant pull it up.
sides the price on amg 5 was a price error to begin with... also it had the wrong upc code attached to it.
if one takes a risk and orders somethng knowing that the price is a mistake then you should have some expectations that things could go wrong.
but given that your card has never been charged and that they dont show it shipping out... whats the problem? you got a quote but no confirmation and no order history in your account. call them up and confirm that you have no outstanding orders... then reorder or dont.

I had this problem as well, however two different attempts to contact their customer service over the last 6 weeks has resulted in silence on their end. AMG Vol.5 still shows as on order in their system though which is the part I find odd. It's sold out pretty much everywhere else too so I figured I'd sit tight and see if they fulfill the order.
Between being shipped a disc I didn't order at all and receiving dvds that are empty cases with no actual discs inside of them (I suspect they have a problem with employee theft), I've decided to dump them as my pre-order source after spending thousands of dollars with them. Digital Eyes was getting bad in the last 9 months and after they merged with DVD Planet their customer service has become completely unresponsive. /images/graemlins/anger200.gif

It's a real shame-- they used to have great customer service at Digital Eyes. I think once I got an email about fixing something from the owner himself. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif BTW, it's not sold out everywhere-- after my screwed up email from them saying it's a preorder due July 18th (uh, what? Even vol. 6 is due on the 11th, I think...) I checked Amazon. At the time, at least, it said "Ships in 24 hours." And you can bet I am seriously considering it at this point...

Well, this is not entirely true for all of us, as my order status still clearly shows "Ah! My Goddess Vol. 5" in the queue, with a "Back in stock soon!" or something like that. And you can still order it from them, but it has been listed as out of stock since it was released. I'm not sure they ever got any copies, and no one has confirmed ever receiving one from them. And when I ordered it, I was not aware of a price mistake or anything of that sort, I just ordered it with several other titles due out around the same time. They promised to fulfill the order, and now can't even get their information straight. I would love to call them, but being in Japan it is a bit difficult with time differences and phone call costs and all...

Mergers mess things up in general, especially if they're consolidating any systems or locations, so I'm hoping in a couple months they'll be running smoothly again. It's not that bad customer service should be validated in any way, shape, or form, but consolidation can definitely muddle things up sometimes.

After receiving my copy of AMG5 from CDUniverse today, I called up DVDPlanet (DigitalEyes) and spoke with Customer Service concerning my order there.
I was told that the DVD is listed "on backorder" & that my order for it still existed. To which I cancelled the item.
I'm sorry to hear about other people having the same problem when ordering from the AnimeOneStop "mistake". Hopefully they will eventually get stock in & fulfill their orders... maybe when Vol. 6 stocks? (And hopefully they'll have enough copies of Vol. 6 to mail out!)
I can't say that I won't keep ordering from them, though. Aside from this incident, my only problem was when they kept mailing me a crushed Gravion Vol. 1 w/box (4 times... and I mean crrrrushed!)
I do get occasional scratched discs & floaters, but their returns are a snap for me.
I'm surprised to hear about the other problems people have had. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif
But I'm still curious as to whether anyone got a copy of AMG5 from them...

Thier merger with DVD Planet has been a trainwreck from what I've gathered. Unfortunately for both of them it's cost them my business now too. I used to be extremely satisfied with Digital Eyes.
Just to note for you and anybody else who is waiting on their Vol.5 order because the website still shows the item on order: it's not. I called their customer service department and was told that Ah My Goddess was NOT waiting on order in their system. They said their system switchover has left a lot of stuff stuck showing up in the open orders screen on your account status. The order was considered shipped and fulfilled when you received your copy of Frightmare (if you did). Just an FYI for those who were waiting to see if it would ship. I'd call and verify with them.

That's really nice. I already decided to cancel this, but really awesome of them to fool everyone. They had assured me the correct title would indeed ship back when this happened. On top of that, they never replied to my emails. So I called and cancelled, and it'll probably be a very long time if ever before I order from them again. Terrible customer service. Just sad.
Adam
Did they tell you there was nothing there to cancel like they did with me? Now that I've found the disc elswhere I will be quite annoyed if DVD Planet sends one to my doorstep in two months.

No, mine was still listed. When I said I wanted to cancel, since it was the only thing I have on order with them, they said "You mean Ah My Goddess #5?" So it was listed, but nothing was ever going to happen. I seriously doubt they will ever get that title in stock. And I still find it ridiculous I wrote them 2 emails to which I received an automated response stating "We will reply in 48 hours" or something, which, 2-3 weeks later, I never got a response to. Very sad what this merger has done to DigitalEyes...

Add another person frustrated by their customer service department and shipping department:
I ordered the Dokkoida Complete DVD Collection from them and I received it damaged (one of the discs was a floater due to the disc holder being broken resulting in the disc being scratched).
So I called them and asked if I can be sent a replacement. They did so and gave me the tracking number (which was invalid when I clicked on the UPS tracking system link), and when I finally recieved the package the same day....lo and behold, one of the DVDs in the collection was a floater and very damaged.
I called them and asked if I could be sent another replacement (still anger but keeping my cool) and they asked if the disc was playable in which I responded that why would I keep a product that is damaged. When I requested that if the shipping department could just check the package before shipping they said they have to open it, then send it to me and I can't complain if it is damaged....and then I just told them to just give me a refund. I certainly ain't taking any more chances.... /images/graemlins/anger200.gif
Looks like DVDPlanet has lost another customer, and its a shame too because I liked ordering from there despite the lack of updating pre-orders often.
Enhance the Trance,

I had a similar problem when ordering Kamichu vol. 1. The first time around, the disc was completely missing from my shipment (the box wasn't even big enough to hold another DVD.) So I call them up and the CS rep says they'll send out another DVD, and after about two weeks they actually get around to shipping it. Unfortunately, when the disc arrives it turns out to be a crushed copy of Kannuzuki no Miko (someone in the wearhouse must be dyslexic). Needless to say, this will be the last time I order from DigitalEyes.
Well my copy of Oh My Goddess v.5 arrived today. Pretty good since I ordered it a month or so before its release date. I tried to sort it out but ran into so many problems with DvdPlanet's CS that I just gave up and stopped ordering from them. Now it arrives on my doorstep to bad it wasn't the Narato boxset that also went missing from them since I haven't gotten around to buying that one yet.

they have been totally sucking lately in the CS realm.
I PRE-ordered the Galaxy Angel Z Complete Collection back in July. They ended up running out of stock right away, which is understandable. So about a month later I get a "your package has shipped" email which means expect it in 5-10 business days. About two weeks go by... no package. Another week... no package. So I finally emaill them and say my package hasn't arrived. Of course, they never answer their email, so I call them up. They apologize for the inconvenience and say they'll ship another one. That was back in August, I wait another three weeks, no package. I call them and say I didn't get the second package. They tell me they're out of stock, more will be in on Sept 15th.
Ok, understandable... I suppose. I had to call them around the 22nd for ANOTHER DVD that went missing and while on the phone, they ask if I have any other questions. I say yes, what's the status on my Galaxy Angel Z. She looks and of course says "oh, we shipped that out on July 28th."
^__________________^;
me: "nooooooooo... I already spoke with you guys twice about this, I got billed for it, but it hasn't gotten to me." The lady looks into it... "oh, it's out of stock again, it'll ship on Oct 12th."
Now, my problem is... if there was no indication that this is still waiting to ship, how are they supposed to know that they still owe me a copy if their computer doesn't even say so? I have a gut feeling that I'm gonna get the shaft again on Oct 12th... and I already paid for it!
Don't even get me started on what's going on with my copies of GITSSAC2ndGIG vols 6 and 7. heeheehee. I had the supervisor look into it and it's STILL not resolved, even though my account says "in stock, will ship in 24-48 hours." ugh, I'm gonna call them right now!
if I didn't have so many points built up with them already, I would consider shopping around at other places. Oh well, my backlog is big enough as it is. I'm just anxious when I have discs out in Land of Freight and Cargo and have no clue where they're going.

anyone else have all of their pending order disappear?
I had GITSSAC2ndGiG Vols 6 and 7 waiting to ship, as well as the If I See You In My Dreams Ecomony pack... now my "open orders" window is clear (except that pesky Eureka Seven Vol 2 that's been in limbo since summer began).
I got an odd email from them claiming that their "mulitple payment system"[sic] messed up and now they want me to send them a credit card number or something. I just ignored it since it looked unsecure... I'm going to have to call them tomorrow but wanted to know if I'm alone in this.

For anyone who is pre-ordering Shana Vol. #4 at AnimeOneStop, you'll probably wind-up being shipped Gun Sword Vol. #6.
That's what just happened to me, because (yet again) DVDPlanet has given the wrong item code number to the wrong DVD on their site.
In fact, if you search for Shana #4 at AnimeOneStop, you'll get two results!
The one with item number PIO012778 got me Gun Sword #6, which, according to CS, isn't even expected in until March 20th.
In fact, Gun Sword #6 isn't even listed at the site, yet.

I'd read that thread on Negima #3 & had shook my head with familiarity when XenoCrisis0153 spotted it listed under Hare+Guu #5.
My Shana/Gun Sword mix-up was the third time I've gotten a DVD other than what I've ordered, because of an item number/ listing goof-up. :sigh:

Well I've already experienced it with AMG Vol. 5, Hare+Guu Vol. 5, & now Shana Vol. 4. I don't really see any other shops out there that are better though in terms of price, packaging, & service combined so I'll still do my business with them.
oh really? When I did a search for Shana 4 a week ago, two identical entries popped up. Maybe that's what caused the problem. I hope I clicked on the right one because my disk should be shipping soon.

Of those two identical entries:
Check the URL...
the one ending in PIO012743 is for Shana #4.
the one ending in PIO012778 is actually for GunSword #6... it is not Shana #4.
Even my order confirm e-mail listed PIO012778 as Shana #4, but my shipping confirm e-mail listed what it really is... GunSword #6... which is what I was sent.
Their CS is aware of the mix-up, but I see that the site has still not been corrected.

I got my "Your DVD was shipped today" email last night and it's telling me that Gun Sword v.06 is on it's way... ugh, thanks for the url info, I'm gonna go compare right away.
I was wondering why Gun Sword #6 wasn't listed on their website. Now I know. I might have to order it as Shana then.

Are you sure? I think you have it backwards.
According to TRSI pd12743 is Gun Sword #6.
pd12778 is Shana #4. DVDPlanet even lists a release date of 3/20 for this one which is correct.

Actually DVDPlanet is backwards, not me. :D
Explanation:
TRSI would be using the correct Geneon DVD item numbers. The spines on the DVD cases clearly have:
Shana #4... 12778
Gun Sword #6... 12743.
However, as I posted previously, I spoke to a DVDPlanet CS rep that said they mistakenly reversed the item numbers for the 2 DVDs on the site.
So, as far as DVDPlanet/AnimeOneStop, my information would still be correct.
Their main goof-up being no Gun Sword #6 listing & 2 Shana #4 listings.
So be careful when/if ordering...
In fact, I had ordered Gun Sword #6 from DeepDiscount (which is related to DVDPlanet), and it arrived today...
And DD also uses those same reversed item numbers:
Shana #4... item number PIO012743
Gun Sword #6... item number PIO012778.
But since DD has both DVD listings, I received the correct DVD from them anyway.
My head hurts... :D
Hmm I changed my mind. It's not worth it to order the DVD and end up with the wrong one. I'll just stick to ol' reliable TRSI when they have a Geneon sale.

Indeed. Avoiding DVD Planet at all costs prevents premature aging like the nazi guy who drank from the wrong cup in the third Indiana Jones movie.

whoa, your's and mine both... all I know is that my email receipt says that "Gun Sword 6" is on it's way over. I emailed them asking them what I should do... I was planning on just writing "return to sender" on the outside, but I guess now I should take a peek inside.

I'm sure you already know, but they're having their sale right now. ALL 6 volumes for $19.49 each.

For a more prompt response, call their toll free number (800-818-9693). They've answered on Saturdays, too.
They'll give you an RA number & will e-mail you a postage-free return label for the box.
(If you open it, just reseal it.)
They can also have your replacement DVD readied for you... my Shana #4 was mailed out even before I shipped back my Gun Sword #6.

ummm... all sources I've seen, including this website, say 6. I believe even the inserts with the release schedule say 6. Plus, 24 episodes divided by 4 episodes each is still 6.

they're prolly sick of hearing from me... I know I'm sick of calling them... it's pretty sad when I know all of THEIR names. Ugh, anyway, considering I'll meet Jesus before I hear back from them via email, I think a phone call is in order.

I've been seriously thinking of placing an order with DvdPlanet because of their sale on Funi titles but this thread has me a bit cautious. I've been thinking of placing it here instead of DDD because of Google Checkout, but I've never used them before.
Also, maybe a bit of an unrelated question but, does Google Checkout work with out of stock or is it only on in stock items. What if one of the items is in stock and is more than ten dollars, does it work then?
I don't know if I needed to post this question in a new thread. If so, then please tell me and I'll do so. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could answer my questions.

All items have to be instock and the total has to be over $10 for checkout to work.

This appears to only apply to the $10 off $30 and $20 off $50 coupons, which were supplied by the stores. This $10 off $10 coupon is actually supplied by Google (they pay $10 of the order and you pay for the rest). I just used the coupon and found out after I made the order, that one of my items (out of three) were out of stock. However, they accepted it and I got my $10 discount and I also got a partial shipment on the two instock items.
A small warning though, for this ten dollar coupon deal. Google charges your credit card right away, instead of when the items actually ship. Note: It was the other way around when I ordered from FYE (without the coupon) a couple of weeks ago. Also, you won't get a shipping confirmation from Google, until everything ships.
EDIT: It appears that I was mistaken on this. The reason why my order was accepted was because the 'out of stock' item, that I ordered was still listed as 'in stock'.

Thank you for the reply joelgundam01. Two of the items I'm interested in are instock while another is not. I'm thinking I'll make one order with DvdPlanet and another with DDD, whom I've made an order with before. Let us just see how well things go with this.

You're wrong. Google checkout will not work unless all the items in your cart are IN STOCK. Now whether or not, in reality, they have actual stock is a different matter entirely. If any DVD says "out of stock" in your cart, the Google checkout button will be grayed out. I tested it a minute ago just to confirm.
Now some stores like CD Universe allow you to check out even if DVDs are out of stock or preorders. DVD Planet/Digital Eyes won't.

Strange, because it worked for me with the Funi sale at DVD Planet. One of the three DVDs (Basilisk vol. 5) is out of stock (according my order status at DVD Planet) and the order went through with the $10 off coupon applied. Hmm...maybe the item was still listed 'in stock' when I order it. I didn't really pay attention to the availability status, when I ordered. :nervous:
I preordered Zipang volume 6 from Google Checkout and it was a preorder, so the items do not necessarily have to be in stock.
Zipang #6 is not even available on DVD Planet.

Not on DVD Planet, but from CD Universe. Policies vary from store to store I believe. I just wanted to point it out that the $10 coupon does not necessarily apply to all stores.

Not a pre-order issue per se, but for those of you DVDPlanet customers on the East Coast...is it unusual for a Media Mail order from them to take more than two weeks to arrive? My order supposedly shipped on March 6, but I still haven't received it.

I usually average 7-10 days on Media Mail from DVDPlanet. But sometimes some of their single-DVD mailers have taken up to 14 days.

In the past it would take up to 21 days to receive a package from DVDPlanet or from their sister company DD. However, lately its been far less (6-8 days) for me.

mine are typically 6-7 days.... I think the longest I've waited was 14 days but that only happened once or twice. I don't live too far from Boston MA, if that helps.

It varies. I got some packages within 4-5 days of shipping. While others (like Origin, which I was about to report missing in the mail) took 23 days to get to me. :sigh:

I've had two DVDs that never even showed up. :(
The first time I called after 21 days & was told to call back in a week... which I did.
The second time I called exactly one month after the mailing date.
Simply told them my DVDs never arrived.
In both cases replacement DVDs were sent out First Class mail, with no charge.
Thanks for the replies, everyone! The order arrived today. Guess I just needed to complain about it. :)
Well, after many, many issues with this site I guess now I know better and check before ordering. This weeks error seems to be Paradise Kiss Volume 3. This listing (http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm?info=PIO012961) is for the canceled special edition. Not only does it not list on the site as a special edition but there is no other listing for the real one so buyer beware :grr:
