Trinity Blood recommended?

I was thinking of pre-ordering the first volume of the series but of course I also heard some negative opinions on the ending of the TV series.

I gotta ask, what makes the ending bad? You can give vague spoilers about it.

I mean, if anyone could compare the ending of "Trinity Blood" to any other anime series. What would it be?

It's a mediocre series with gorgeous artwork but very shallow characters and a pretty weak plot.

Ultimately there's a lot of better series out there.

I'd give you more details, but the series is so forgettable I can't remember many. Doh!

The only thing good about Trinity Blood is the arc around eps 12-19.

Anyhow, since most of your questions are about the ending, I'll address that while trying to be vague to avoid spoilers. These are probably some of the issues that probably annoyed a lot of people (including me):
(1)The main villain only starts to appear around ep 20. Hence there's hardly any character development for that character.
(2)We are left to figure out what happened in the aftermath of a certain fight and why suddenly two people are travelling around.
(3)The ED is extremely misleading and fails to deliver its promise.
(4)Characters whom they spent entire episodes developing in the 1st 11 episodes barely do anything in the last few episodes and you find yourself wondering why they bother to develop them in the first place.
(5)Where's the romance?
(6)Make a proper opening animation, for goodness sake!!! Even by the last episode they are still merely recycling clips from the show for the OP.
(7)We still don't know much about the background of Abel and his "family" from the flashback and we're left to guess what really happened in the past.
(8)Not enough Seth.
(9)Abel is a bland lead character.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed eps 12-19 but feel that this show could have been much better.

I didn't really understand why the first two posts (though I could see their frustration about the show very well) were so negative about the show until your post pretty much explained everything well.
