As you can tell from my signature, I will be attending Blumfest... I mean, Anime Boston this year. This will be my second time attending with my anime club; the first time was last year's Anime Boston. This will also be my second anime convention ever. This year, I'd like to create a podcast (and also a blog, but I already know what I want to do for that) chronicling my experiences there. I was thinking about talking to a few voice actors (English only), talking about the various events and what I'm doing, and maybe even getting some messages from fellow attendees. I will also be filming the event (shit, I'd better check about that; don't want them thinking I'm gonna bootleg anime screenings) so I can put together a short video. If anyone has any ideas on what I should focus on, I'd appreciate any suggestions. In case you need to know, here's the equipment and applications I'll be using:
[list] Powerbook G4 17"
Crappy headset microphone (for me)
DVD camcorder (there's my second mic)
Garageband 3
iMovie HD 6
iPhoto 6
iWeb
The hardest part is figuring out what kinds of material to get. That's where I need your help. It should be fairly simple to put everything together, but any suggestions regarding that will be appreciated as well. Anyone who contributes will be credited in the video credits, as will this website.
If this turns out well, I'll do another one next year for Anime Boston 2007 (or AnimeNext, since I may go to that one instead).

hey Starwind. good luck with the project, I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.
Anyway, I did a quick check of the FAQs and policies we have posted, but I couldn't find the photography-prohibited zone listing. Based on memory, I know there is no filming in these areas:
- video screening rooms
- panels (unless permission is given by the panelist)
- Artists' Alley (mainly pics OF the artwork, being in the room and interviewing artists and others *should* be fine... same for Dealers' Room)
- I think the music performance are off limits too, not sure
Not much on cool ideas of what to film. Until the schedule comes out, there's not much planning you could do. Talking with attendees and not-too-busy staff is always a good place to start. cya in less than a month

What, you thought I'd be bootlegging anime? Please.

So I would have to ask the VAs, or AB staff running the panel?

Actually, I don't really care about the artwork, so I wasn't planning on going there. I was thinking about the Dealers' Room, though, but I don't know.

What about opening ceremonies, because that'd be a cool way to start off the video?

I'll do that, then. I remember seeing Patrick in the registration line last year (I thought he was DLW for a second); maybe I'll see him again this year.
I almost forgot, I'll need to take cosplay pics. I'm sure that WON'T be a problem. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

no, it's called "covering my ass." If someone goes videotaping in a video room because I didn't include it on a list thinking it was above obvious (which it is), then the first thing out of peoples' mouths will always be "so-and-so didn't say I couldn't." You should know that.
everything else mentioned sounds ok. Not sure about opening ceremonies, I don't see why not, but that's just me. What's DLW and why would Pat be standing in registration line? haha

I do know that. I would never bootleg anime.

Probably so he could laugh at people and be like, "Yeah, bitch, I organized this convention and you're paying to attend it. I rock!" or something. At least, I'm PRETTY sure it was him, because when he went up on stage at the opening cermonies I was like, "Hey that's the guy who was standing behind me in the reg line!"
Or maybe someone was cosplaying as him. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Oh, please. I have better things to be doing and I'm much more modest.

Uh... Staff (including me) don't have to wait in the registration line. I did spend some time in Registration checking on things, but never waited in line.
