From http://www.animenewsservice.com

It's been revealed animation studios GAINAX and Shaft will be teaming on the production of a second Mahou Sensei Negima! TV series to be directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (Nanoha / Paniponi Dash). Star Child Records will also be involved and this will mark the first time in many years since they last partnered with GAINAX. No other details are available but expect a Fall 2006 broadcast debut in Japan.

Hmm, interesting. Gainax wouldn't be my first choice, but there are certainly worse studios out there.

I wonder what the source for this is. I haven't seen anything on it in Japan yet, but I don't check all that many sites regularly.

I wonder if they plan on trying to continue from the first series, or just redo the whole thing.

As long as the character designs are closer to the manga, that's a step in the right direction, I really did not like the chubby look the characters had.

Gainax craziness and the director of Nanoha? This will be something to look forward to.

Seconded! And I couldn't care less about Negima in general.

If this news is true, I'd imagine they'll just use the same character designs from the Spring/Summer event specials, which were also done by SHAFT/Shinbo. Those designs... aren't really closer to the manga. In fact some of them look rather strange. But the animation on the spring special was feature-film quality, so I won't complain much.

The spring special was based on the island beach storyline which took place after the Kyoto arc, so I'd imagine they're going to be continuing forward with the story in the new series. While I wouldn't mind seeing some stuff from the first series re-done, I'd rather they cover manga material not yet animated.

The magazine Seiyuu Animedia supports this story, so it looks legit. It also says that it will be a TV Tokyo anime.

Damn. No pantsu unless they add it in for the DVDs.

Of course, the Xebec version of Negima did rearrange the order of some events in the manga (i.e. having Negi's battle with Evangeline take place before Negi's first journey into Library Island), thus a redo of some events (i.e. Kyoto) is still possible (it just that they need to come up with a new way to set up the formation of Negi's Merry Men/Comely Comrades.

The last one was a TV Tokyo anime (well, in a sense) /images/graemlins/wink.gif

In a sense? And yeah, I knew it was TV Tokyo (I watched most of the eps as they aired). The previous series not having as many panty shots as the manga was a minor disappointment for me. It seems like they could've gone all out on the fanservice to make the DVDs a better deal for the buck, but in the end only a handful of panty shots were added. Hopefully it'll be different for the 2nd TV series.

But if not, the spring anime certainly had its fair share of tight swimsuits /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif

[/ QUOTE ]I don't know! Lately lot of shows in TV tokyo have been flashing pantsu. I guess there must be new management in there. They might have realized that in other to compete they need to do some flashing. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Huh, seriously? Which ones? I noticed some no-pantsu scenes at the end of School Rumble 2nd Semester ep 1 (although I didn't really want to see one of them), but I haven't been watching much recent anime lately.

ANS now is reporting that Gainax is not involved in the 2nd Negima TV anime. As they have outside sources, it's hard to confirm whether they're wrong (or if they were even right in the first place /images/graemlins/tongue.gif).

Hmm, well they say "would seem to suggest the production team of the second season of Mahou Sensei Negima TV will not include GAINAX afterall", so even their source doesn't seem to know for sure. But I kinda hope it's true, as GAINAX hasn't impressed me much over the past few years, although I admittedly haven't watched more than an ep or two of each series they put out in that period.

When it comes to whether or not Gainax will actually be part of the second "series" of Negima, I think the best thing to do for now is to wait until the second "series" is officially announced (either in an issue of Shounen Weekly or on Ken Akamatsu's web page).

Haha! I had to do a bit of defending them here (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1283016&page=&view=&sb=5& o=&fpart=4&vc=1) regarding that (read the conversation between me and slerch), but I know why you mean. When the Japanese side of the industry calms down a bit *cough*moe*cough*, then maybe we'll see more experimental and thought prokoing anime (the type of stuff that got alot of us into this) in the future...

Can anyone verify this? I know TV Tokyo hasn't shyed away from showing the occasional bare behind in the past, but I haven't heard of pantsu being in any of their shows from anyone else.

Fighting Beauty Uuron Rebirth is the only show that came to mind right now. The first season had some flashing too.

Hmm, didn't see much of anything on the previews they had up on the official web site. You sure you're not thinking of bloomers?

I'm not sure about pantyshots but Air Gear which is currently broadcasted by Tv Tokyo has a lot of nudity (like half an episode where Simca runs around stark naked). Its covered up but I suspect the censorship will be removed for the DVDs.

That is the funny thing, Panty shots are more taboo than bare ass. /images/graemlins/icon_rolleyes.gif
