Question about FMA manga.

I am wondering, is the FullMetal Alchemist manga edited and/or censored in anyway?
Am just asking because I know Viz has a habit of censoring things. And is the translation fine/unaltered?

Everything is left as it is, and the translation is more than fine. Viz doesn't edit their 'Action' titles as easily as their Shonen Jump stuff.

Nah it's still just a shounen manga, even the violence in it isn't that explicit.

I heard from someone who worked on it that some religious symbols were edited out. Since I don't care for FMA, I didn't spend any effort trying to find out from which page/book.

If any edits were done, they haven't affected the story as far as I can tell. The manga's definitely worth picking up for the omakes at the end, if nothing else. ^_^

Slightly OT compared to the rest of the discussion(and also because I didn't see the need for anothe 'fma question thread') how is the manga?

I love the anime to bits and cannot wait to finish it, and I know that somewhere around Volume 6 or 7, the anime and manga become different(due to the anime catching up and having always planned on having a different ending).

Is the manga after this point THAT mcuh different from the anime that it'd warrant a purchase by a fan like myself who doesn't usually buy much manga?

Also, has the manga finished in Japan yet?
