Hello, just wondering if anybody is going to this smaller anime convention this coming weekend. Right now, I'm only planning to attend on Saturday.
I really want to check out the dub for Negima!, but I dont know if I'll get the chance to listen. There are some other shows that are listed as "Premire" , but I dont know if those shows are going to be shown with their new dub, or subbed.
Anyway, post here if you're going!

I have gone every year since its inception but this year I will not attend. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
I'm just too broke to go this year. That and I'm a father now. I don't think the anime fans would be to happy to have my son projectile spit on their merchandise.

I'm going (as usual..)! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
I only just realized this past week that this year we're running up against Anime Boston (not to mention something like 3 or 4 other cons, too..hah) .. I wonder if anyone will actually be there?! *laugh* Sadly, this is likely to be my last Animazement and I've been every year since the 2nd, which is the year I moved to town.
Side note, I'll also be going as a Press Rep for AoD (*fear*) but um, the press policy this year is kinda silly; we get four questions. Four. For everyone. So.. I'm gonna try to think of some cool stuff and hope I get the chance to ask, but in the meantime, anyone have something they want asked of one of the guests (http://www.animazement.org/guests.html)? I can try....!

This will only be the second time I've attended Animazement. I've been to bigger conventions, but I still like the "feel" that smaller conventions have.
I dont expect any R1 companies to take their time for a smaller convention, but this year is pretty good! Anime Nation (http://www.animenation.com/index.html) is holding an industry panel and is part of the dealers room. (must get Hare+Guu vol.2 & 3) FUNimation has a strong turn out of guests; and as mentioned before a showing of dub Negima!. And I must see the "Dub your own anime" panels that Kyle Herbert is running.
As for questions, ...I really can't think of any. If you attend the Industry Panel for AN, you can ask if they have any plans on bringing Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5094) to R1. But besides that I can't think of anything. I'm not too good with coming up with questions for actors/actresses. I'm only good at Industry Panels /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Yeah, not so much a huge industry con, but there has always been some presence over the years. Animenation has come several times I think - though last year they were on the schedule but didn't show due to some emergency or something - and back before they imploded, Studio Ironcat used to come all the time. One year Broccoli (Synch-Point/Anime Gamers, whatever they came as..) came, and that was awesome. That was like my favorite year .. and I spent so much dough at their table! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif I think more companies used to come, but I don't really remember now. The golden years of this con have kind of passed in my opinion... but I could just be getting old. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif It's still fun though, and I think this con has always been about the guests anyway. They've had some really cool ones, and a lot of them come back year after year.

Like I mentioned before, I only went on Saturday; but just from one day, I thought this year was REALLY good. I thought almost every aspect was better then last year. My only complaint was that the staff kinda took their time getting the registration open, but that's all.
Time for the praise! From registration, my g/f and I went to stand in line for the dealers room(DR). Since registration was late, it was less then a half-hour wait before the dealer room was open. I thought the DR not only had a better selection of items this year, but the traffic flow was also noticably less. I never found myself jammed right in the middle of the aile (like last year). Said 'Hey' to AN's "Ask John", givin' him some props (kinda funny watching him work the AN booth like a normal grunt /images/graemlins/happy.gif) After buying some figurines and something for my brother for his graduation, I was going to watch a premire of Green Green, but apparently they didnt get their shipment in time. So that was a little disappointing.
The art auction had less items to bid on this year, but the Quality of said items were much better. I would've bidded on a couple items, but I wouldn't be there Sunday...so I just used that money on doujinshi /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
Attended a couple of panels, made Catlin Glass stir a little with a question, and had lunch sometime in between all that.
For just one day, I was impressed. Personally, it was alot better then last year, and made me wish I had stayed all three days! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
