What acts of revenge in anime (& manga) have you most enjoyed &/or been horrified by the most?
Please say who was revenging on whom, why, & the show.

I haven't seen the show myself, but, if it's anything like the book, Count of Monte Cristo wins this topic hands down.

One act of revenge that needs to be mentioned:
Cowboy Bebop: After finally reuniting with Julia, only for her to get killed by one of Vicious' henchmen, Spike goes on a mission to infiltrate the Red Dragon headquarters and kill the man who ordered her death. Of course, revenge has a price, as Spike ends up dying as well.

Fushigi Yuugi - When Tamahome had his family slaughtered because <that one guy>'s brother was killed. (It's been a while since I watched it and I forgot the names of the brothers). It caught me because it was so pointless and cruel. So sad.

I think almost every episode of Jigoku Shoujo takes the cake. Too many characters to name but ep 9 with the cream cakes takes the cake (pun intended).

In NTHT, the scene when Sara takes revenge on the soldier who raped her was very, very brutal.

That was the first thing that came to mind. In addition, I was shocked earlier in the series when Yui turned against Miaka

I was pretty horrified by the obvious one in Berserk... And Gungrave.
One I never really understood was Argentosoma. Granted, I've only watched half of the series, but the tragedy happens in episode 1 and the whole motivation of the main character is pretty much revenge... but I just didn't understand why? There probably wasn't enough build up to get me invested in the characters...

I guess Motoko's 2 acts of revenge in 2 different SAC episodes count; the robot & sadistic lady doctor. Both took me by surprise for their viciousness.
