New remote for Oppo OPDV971H

Searched and didn't see any other messages about this but figured it was worth mentioning.

Apparently Oppo has made a new remote for the OPDV971H. Just going by the picture on the site, it looks like it has a more user friendly button layout along with lighted buttons. That alone makes it worth it to me. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

The website says that the remote was included with any OPDV971H that shipped after 11/28/05 but is available free + $5 ship/handling for anyone who bought the OPDV971H before then. You have to put in the S/N number of your player to see if it qualifies and to make sure you don't try to snag more than one.

They've been offering it for 3 or 4 months now, and yes it is a huge improvement especially if you had the original cheap white remote like I did. All the buttons glow in the dark, but are not truly backlit. Good layout and easy to hold in the hand (big, but not too big). Beware of the fork in the firmware depending upon whether you had the white or black remote though.
