Coaches Sign-up: Boys of Summer Tourney! Closed!!

Okay this is the thread for all those that want to be coaches in the Boys of Summer Tourney. The Tourney will be accepting the first 16 coaches that reply to this thread stating they want to play.

Here are the rules for the tourney:

1) The six possible male archtypes are Youthful, Bishōnen, Psycho, Ecchi, Cool, Rascal. Short definations are provide below but are only loose guidelines they coaches and voters may or maynot use.

2) Each coach then has 24 hours to make a selection. If they miss their turn they fall the pick will fall to the end of the draft order. Yes this means all the way to the end. This pattern will continue until all coaches have drafted four players. Drafting will be in snaking order; ie 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4.

3) Once all coaches have drafted five players the final four male archtypes will be revealed.

4) Then all coaches will have 48 hours to assign only one of their five players to each of the four archtype pools via PM to me.

5) Each player will be randomly matched up with another player in a single elimination bracket format. Then all the brackets will be revealed.

8) All pools will be given psudo definations of the Archtype you all should be judging by similar to the diva tourney.

9) Scoring is simple polls, with players get points equal to the percentage of the vote. So if they win with 60.7 percent of the vote they get 60 points (always round down). Ties will be settle the same way as the diva tourney "Mini Face Offs" and the winner will get one extra point and move on in the bracket.

10) Scoring for the finals will be the same. Players get points equal to the percentage of the vote for every poll they are in for the finals. Ties will not matter in the finals as its only the total points scored for the team that counts.


Remember these are only the six possible archtypes while the actual game will only use four of them!

Youthful: Referring to young pre-teen boys or older males that look or act like very young boys. The age set is up to the coaches and voters.

Bishōnen: Literally meaning "beautiful youth." It describes an aesthetic widely shared in Asia—a young man whose beauty (and sexual appeal) transcends the boundary of sex.

Psycho: Short for psychopath this is defined here as a deranged or psychopathic person not pertaining to whether that character is actually good or evil.

Ecchi: Deriving from a Japanese word meaning "lewd" or "naughty" it will be used as an adjective referring to a pervert or very naughty acting boy.

Cool: Difficult to define singly, but it can be defined variously as "fearless self-possession in the face of danger”, self control, imperturbable, fashionable

Rascal: A rogue or a deceitful and unreliable scoundrel that is also playfully mischievous.

Yes there are six possible archtypes Youthful, Bishōnen, Psycho, Ecchi, Cool, Rascal. But only four of them will be used in the actual tourney.

So when your drafting you will have to decide which type of character you will go after. The very defination of one of the archtypes or a character that can fit in more then one of the archtypes.

You will have five choices but only use four in the game, so you can go out on a limb with at least one of your picks.

Edit: Okay to really anwser your question you will choose your own male character from all of animedom.

As for the team name, The Fool's Guild would seem rather appropriate considering the fool that's coaching them...:P

Depends on which section of the forums you are in. The news threads coming out of Anime Boston and the news from CPM over in the R1 forum have been very active this weekend. But here in the GA forum, I'd have to agree that it's not as busy as normal. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Yes it has been just like the Diva tourney and any rule consense on the Anime Draft. But I will give it one week and if I get at least one more coach then I have a backup plan for a 8 team field. But I'm hoping for 16 so things will real unpredicable.

I saying right now drafting will start by Sunday June 4th hell or high water.

On that note I will ask this early right now. If we do only 8 teams do you all want to stick with the orginal format? I can either change it to double elimation or have all teams draft 10 players and submit two to each pool.

To my understanding (Chimp can correct me if I'm wrong), you pick 5 characters, with just the person's name, one at a time. After all the picks are done, the final 4 archetypes from the 6 are chosen, and you pick which characters from your draft you want to best represent each type. (The 5th character drafted {not necessarily 5th in order} then doesn't get used, although I kinda think it would be interesting to see a wild-card category and have all the 5ths face off...)

Yes it is a bad number as is all numbers 13-15. Okay Gatts I asked dunno to withdraw so I can get back to twelve. Sorry I haven't responsed sooner as I had to take a nap. My 2.5 year niece is killing me as I took her out shopping today. God they have so much energy (and I have so little).

Your correct my dear sir!

So in review I will randomly setup draft order and drafting will be done via snake. I figure this is fair since there is no quick polls to determine order and stuff.

When drafting all I want is the character name and the show they were in. Please if it as come over to R1 include that name as well as its proper name. I don't mind really but it makes things easier to seach for info and pics sometimes.

Once everyone has picked I will reveal the final four archtype pools!

Everyone will get 48 hours to PM with how they will assign one of their characters to each pool.

Then the games shall begin with 1v1-1st round, 1v1-2nd round, and 1v1v1-pool finals. Grand finals will be a 1v1v1v1 battle royale where everyone will battle it out in a deathmatch for each rice ball. Er strike that last part.
