I'd buy this if I could get some subs to hax0r onto the DVDs. This seems like a REALLY good show and even with R2 prices it seems like a managable length for a show. From what I've read it isn't too much like Azumanga Daioh, but I could be wrong.

I'm tempted to get the R2s, but I have a feeling that the series will probably get licensed pretty soon anyway. Plus, I need to save up for Kyoto Animation's re-make of Kanon.
I wouldn't really compare Haruhi Suzumiya to AzuDai, Njr (if you're looking for "the new Azumanga Daioh," something like Pani Poni Dash or even School Rumble would be closer to fitting the bill). The two series are very different in terms of tone and content.

I've had them all preordered for a while now. The only thing that will cancel that is the announcement of a HD release.

Just like the others, yep I've already pre-ordered all the LE volumes awhile back.
Only another month until the first/zero volume comes out!

First I was inclined to get it being a short-run anime. But after confusing myself silly with the progression of the storyline, I decided to pass on it. Plus, I'm tentatively supporting 4 R2 titles... so money strain.

You gotta love CDJapan's description:

Haruhi attends a slightly non-realistic school...

I've not yet finished watching the extras, but it's nice to see Aya cosplaying as Haruhi (she's changed quite a bit in the last few years)
Unfortunately there's the same problem with compression artefacts in busy sections of the op that was on the AIR DVDs.
