View Full Version : Favorite gigantic-"evil"-shadow organization that controls the world/etc?

Seeing Da Vinci Code reminded me of all those "evil"(hit SEELE and this becomes interpretive) world-controlling organizations and sects that somehow crop up into so many anime...
My first thoughts went to the Soldats(from Noir) and the Godhand(Berserk), and then onto the usual suspects, like SEELE, End of the World, Romefeller and Galactor, as well as other groups such as Alchemy, Kubere, Bahbem, et al. For me, it's the Soldats, Noir, as it does all things, beautifully crafted the Soldats in an uncomplicated yet all intrusive manner, showing little threads here and there, how simple one of its "leader" came to her mentality, comparing it to other organizations like the Triad and Cosa Nostra(establishing that it wasn't the first to cross the finish line, just the best), and giving it a sort of serene locale and set of beliefs. There was conflict and intrigue, but it's all-pervasiveness was ever present.
Your favorites, your thoughts?

I personally love the End of the World, a one man-organization (maybe two if you count Anthy) that controls the school through trickery and subtle manipulation.
Mikage International from Ayashi no Ceres is another one I find fascinating, if for no other reason than how brutal and inhumane they were on a regular basis. They weren't a worldwide shadow organization, per se, but they were sinister enough to make up for it.

The Patriots!!!
Oh wait, that's a game. Well, there's the Dragons of Heaven and Earth. They're not hidden in our point of view, but from the point of view of normal people in X, they're those sorts of organizations.
Big Fire. Though there not really a shaow orgainzation, but there cool one the less.

Neo Atlantis, from Nadia. An organization made up of military leaders and capitalists from all over the world, with access to immense funds and super-technology, who bide their time for over a decade to bring their plans to fruition, and are immediately identifiable by their trademark white masks.

Ra-Ri-Ru-Re-Ro
Mine would be Gowa from Gasaraki. The reason why I like this organisation is because of the inhouse fighting that occurs, and that most family members are connected and involved in some way.

Well since Big Fire has already been claimed, I'm going to go back a few years and pick my original favorite super coperation Genom from the orignal Bubblegum Crisis.

Both the Guild from Last Exile & Peacemakers from Scrapped Princess are recent examples of organizations just a little too big for their britches.
And Akito Sohma...

The La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo from MGS2-4, though in Japanese, what with their absence of "L," the seiyuus are saying Ra-Ri-Ru-Re-Ro, most recently evidenced in lines from Meryl Silverbugh in the MGS4 trailer of late.
