MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online (EverQuest, Warcraft, etc.)

I'd be curious what some of the nominations here might be. As for me, I'd love to play a Last Exile MMO. Just think about it for a second... you can work up to get your own Vanship and explore all of Prester! That would be sweet.

I would like to play a Kino's Journey MMO. I think it would cool to be a traveller going around and visiting different cities and interacting with the people living there and meeting other travellers.

Last Exile would be a pretty good MMO as you mentioned Daniel. For me though, I always thought that Full Metal Panic would be great as a MMO. I mean you could choose a military organization to belong to, design your character and mech, and off you go. It wouldn't be hard to set up multiple missions and battlefields in the world. For the social aspect, you could go to school like the characters do in the series heh.

Hunter x Hunter
One Piece
Naruto

All have a lot of potential.

Oh, and where's my freaking Pokemon MMO already?

Bubblecum Crisis: The MMO PLay as agents of either the Knight Sabers or Genom in a fast paced futuristic enviorment. AS you do quests for your faction your prestige inscreraes and you cna gain special items and cybernetic upgrades. World PVP would be a must as agents of both side fight in the street and the shadows.

Might not work in the conventional sense of an MMORPG but... Angelic Layer.

An MMO of Macross or any of the Gundam shows would be great.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It might be done where you build your Angel and then have the Angel do missions and stuff to earn money for new parts and upgrades and PVP would of course be fights against other Angels. This would of course culminate ina World Event of a championship tournament where the highest ranked angels on the server would battel it out for the chance to fight the Champion, and if they win, get bragigng rights as the first player to be champion on that server.

.hack would be the obvious answer. /images/graemlins/happy.gif I'd try that. As long as there weren't bizzare occurences that knocked players into comas....

But, I'm really not much into MMORPGs. I have trouble getting into groups, and the ones I've tried really require you to have a group to have any real fun (and from what I hear, some require you to be in a group when you're at high levels in order to acomplish anything at all). I personally prefer games where you can go off and do your own thing, but still have a story/plot aspect (so I'm more of a single-player gamer). Or maybe one where you only need one or two others (and possibly have them be CPU controled if you can't find anyone else, like a regular RPG?), not a freaking 40 man group. When I group-roleplay, I prefer to do it verbally in a small group/pair setting with people I'm familiar with.

I bet Sorcerer Hunters would translate well into a MMORPG though. That could be interesting.
I'm a bit suprised that there isn't an official Pokemon one yet, as that one's dying to be an MMORPG. I'd actually play that one, since it wouldn't be so party-heavy in the sense that WoW is.

Hnn, I could see a bunch of anime as MMORPGs, but I probably wouldn't play them due to not being a MMORPG fan.

Fist of the North Star could be done. Just walk around at random and beat up everything in sight.

It'd probably be crap, but I'd play it! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Gantz wouldn't be such a bad idea for MMO, it is already a game itself and the game could come up with tons of monsters/aliens to kill. Plus the game could also use some vehicles like the motorbike that was present in the Gantz PS2 game trailer. Not only that, there could be different weapons other then guns like a spear or even grenades of some kind. This is Gantz afterall, so there can be all sorts of weird and crazy crap in the game.

I think an MMO based on The Twelve Kingdoms would be amazing. It's one of the best examples of world building I've seen. The world created for it was so rich and multi-layered; I'm sure there are even more intricacies to be explored than what actually made it into the novels and anime.

Gundam, most definately. UC continuity, set in the One Year War.

The game would be a steady-state PVP game in the vein of Planetside. Players select a faction (Fed or Zeon) and start from the bottom as infantry. Again, in a system similar to that employed in PS, players would earn credits for kills and completion of objectives (temporarily knocking out an enemy reactor, capturing an enemy base, etc.) and could apply those credits toward earning permits for new weapons and vehicles. Eventually, players would earn enough credits to get a full-fledged mobile suit license, and work their way up to the model of their choosing. Top players could earn the right to sport custom paint jobs, or even custom MSs.

To balance things out, map design would need to evolve a bit from what is surrently evident in MMO games. Additional cover would need to be added to maps (ruined buildings, dense vegetation) to allow lower-level characters a chance at taking on an MS. Infantry and non-MS vehicles would need to be retconned with unlockable weapons powerful enough to fight against an MS -- rail guns, maybe? As for the MSs, beam cannons would be a no-no; way too overpowered. Can't be killing off dozens of PCs in a single shot, regardless of whether or not the TV shows can get away with it.

An expansion pack could allow players to take the fight into colonies, or even into open space. Imagine a never-ending MS battle taking place among the debris of a spaceship graveyard, earth looming large in the background, its surface blossoming with real-time explosions showing contested maps. Biggest problem here is that six degrees of freedom can be a real PITA to handle without purpose-designed peripherals; just ask anyone who tried to play Descent with a mouse and keyboard.

But overall, someone should make this game. It's gold, I tell you, solid gold. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

You do realize that there is already a Gundam MMO of sorts in Japan....and a Fist of the North Star one has been announced and is in development currently?

Still...I'd LOVE a grand scale Super Robot Wars MMO dealie. It could play like an evolved hybrid of the standard game and the Scramble Commander offshoot. One Piece would also be quite interesting, as would Hunter X Hunter.

Currently though, KIBA would kick all kinds of ass if done correctly game wise.

I agree with this, that was my first thought. Also, something in a Slayers! Universe would be a hoot.
