I was wondering why Yayoi's hair color changes from red to blue after the fourth episode.

Spoilers follow for episode 5.

At first I assumed that episode 5 took place several years in the future. However, we get to see Riho quiting school because she is now a vampire with eternal life, so episode 5 can't take place that long after episode 4.

Right now I just went and checked ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=52) and it says that the show got a new art director in episode 5, is that why? It seems really strange that they would go as far as changing what a character looks like.

Art director:
Hitoshi Nagao (ep. 5-12)
Shigemi Ikeda (ep. 1-4)

I remember reading somewhere that the first 4 episodes were intended to be an OVA but got worked into the TV series after the format change.

Perhaps not an explanation, but the first 4 episodes were done as an OAV series, and the last 8 were added to expand it to TV length. Any changes in episode 5 and beyond were probably a result of retooling it for TV.

If I remember correctly, the blood sword's color changed from red to pink as well for the TV episodes. I wondered about that when I first watched the show.

Ah, ok. The OVA thing pretty much explains it. Thanks guys. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Shido's eyes also changed to green when he's not using vampiric powers.

He's so cute with green eyes. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

I thought all the TV episode changes were really weird.

(Here I thought this thread was going to be about that totally trippin' episode 9, with Yayoi and her sister - it still confuses me!)

Watch it again. Eventually you will get it. I think I figured it out the second time around. That is seriously messed up,too. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif There are a LOT of things in Nightwalker that were seriously messed up, actually. Which is why I love it so much. /images/graemlins/shy00000.gif

[/ QUOTE ]It's not that unusual for undead/other-worldly creatures to have colour-change eyes though.

I was confused at first too, but I think I got it by the end of the episode. I think it was like this:
<span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>
-Yayoi was the one in bandages
-Yayoi's good-looking sister had the night breed inside her.
-Yayoi's good-looking sister loved her and decided to give her her face(?)
</span>

I think that's right. /images/graemlins/knowital.gif

Correct on all counts.
