Mitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka, Ouran High Shool Host Club*******
-----VS-----
*******Souichiro Arima, His & Her Circumstances!
In a just world, the final would be Honey vs. Momiji, the only two characters that fit the architype to the letter. Honey should by all rights walk this through...and (hopefully) set up Honey vs. Momiji in a (forgive the pun) sweet match...
Uzumaki Naruto, Naruto*******
-----VS-----
*******Momiji Sohma, Fruits Basket
Naruto always is a popular choice and no doubt that Naruto has the cheeky boy smile, but...against the older than he appears Momiji, the sweet bunny from Furuba...I can't help but go awww....Vote for the bunny!!!! Pretty please? Momiji will cry if you don't...
Negi Springfield, Negima*******
-----VS-----
*******Akito Hayama, Kodocha
Toughie. Negi is definitely the more childlike of the two, but there is a difference between child like and youthful. Akito may not seem it because of his serious nature, but he has some great moments which counter that (like being carried off by his father - he can be as vulnerable as the next guy) - I'd say Negi just takes it, but won't mind if Akito wins at all.
Shippo, Inu-Yasha*******
-----VS-----
*******'2nd Place' Yuya Asuo, Super Gals!
I think Shippo probably handles it better of the two, but I'll abstain from this vote mainly because I can't bring myself to vote for anyone from Inuyasha...*awaiting rabid rocks thrown at me now...*
Laharl, Disgaea*******
-----VS-----
*******Junior, R.O.D The TV
No contest. Junior is probably the closest after Honey/Momiji in this category.
Son Goku, Saiyuki*******
-----VS-----
*******Myōjin Yahiko, Rurouni Kenshin TV
Abstained from voting - though if I had to, I'd probably go with Goku...

Odd that these two would be included in this category, as Negi is frequently complimented for his taking on of adult tasks and his sense of responsibility, while Hayama openly despises being treated like a child and demands to treated as an equal by adults (and makes a good case for it.) The only youthful thing about these two are their age.

Yes! I am in the lead for once! I know it's early, but I'm easily content! lol It would blow if non of the characters I picked make it into the next round. C'mon Second Place, this is your chance to shine and take FIRST PLACE! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Well the description say if the age is young, that also qualifies. No matter how oldish they act. Although I think the young, and childish ones are kicking everyone's butt.
Hmmm me voting for Junior wouldn't have mattered for Laharl anyway. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif not that I know who Junior is....

Naruto is losing!?
I thought for sure Naruto would do really well for me. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif
Where are all the Naruto fans? I need some help here!
P.S. Is it just me, or are the Fruit Basket guys winning all of their matches?

Naruto got my vote, but he just happened to get an unfavorable match-up. He probably would be ahead in most other match-ups.
And yes, all the Fruits Basket boys are dominating. I'm thinking Hatori Sohma would have probably cleaned up in the Youthful Pool at this rate. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Right now I'm a little perplex with this as well. I mean Naruto looks like a little kid, he acts like a little kid, and guess what he even is a little kid. Now Momiji is a tough customer but I was sure this contest would be little closer then this.
Maybe all the Naruto fans think these contest are pure shojo and avoiding them like the cooties. Could explain some of the other results as well.

As for other Results, I think the reason my pick Arima isn't being SLAUGHTERED is because lots of people haven't seen Ouran High School whatever it's called.
And how Desert Punk is losing to Shigure in the Ecchi pool, it's just beyond me.

Despite Momiji being my pick, I will agree as well that I did expect a tough battle, considering Naruto's immaturity suits a lot better to the youthful architype than say Negi-kun or Hayama does.
However, the key I think is probably how the youthful architype is defined. Yes, young characters of course - but the second part 'older characters who look and act young'.
In other words, Naruto is young - Momiji is older and looks younger (and acts) than a Negi or a Hayama, making him a juggernaut in the architype for youthful. That, and Naruto has an overpowered fox demon - Momiji turns into a bunny...^_^
That, or Fruits Basket is more insanely popular than I thought...I could understand Momiji, Ayame and Yuki winning their roles, but Shigure vs. Desert Punk? I love Shigure to bits...but...ah well, I shouldn't really be complaining really...

I agree (with the exclusion of Yuki fans, of course).
Shigure is absolutley nowhere even close to the Desert Punk on the Ecchi scale. It's unbelievably aggrivating. I would've voted for Naruto, but I couldn't do it, as Momiji is so cute and I haven't read much Naruto (never seen anime).

You know what is even a little bit more surprising is 2nd Place's showing. Not that I want the Gay Lords to go down as they really need this one, but Shippo acts younger then all the other characters. Damn near infantile if do say so my self.
Yayu is a teenager, a kind-hearted and a little naive but nowhere near a child like almost all the others. Still I hope he pulls it out if not to carry the Gay Lords banner to the second round.

Don't kill me for this, but how is Arima even close to Mitsukini at this point? O.K obvious answer that Ouran is fairly new to this but he's Honey-sempai, a chibi young man in a fancy high school who is about as tall as Mika-sensei...
Again, I love Arima (and Kare Kano) but sometimes I feel like...are people REALLY looking at the pictures and matching them with the architypes? (Not that I'm biased because I would love, if all things happen a Honey/Momiji match, oh no....... /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif)

>Mitsukuni
>Souichiro Arima
This is an interesting one for me. I've not seen the first one, so it came down to what I know about Arima. And I do usually vote for the ones I know. However, I see Arima as someone who was forced to grow older, and I relate to him in that neither of us had a good childhood. (Different reasons, but...) And it seems like Arima's mostly handled it, so I can't give it to him for actions. And age-wise, well, he's mid-upper teens, capable of being in love, and that's not really youthful to me, so I can't see Arima as youthful, and had to vote for Mitsukuni.
>Uzumaki Naruto, Naruto
>Momiji Sohma, Fruits Basket
I... shouldn't have to say anything here. For Naruto, nothing about him really screams youthful. (Being in an action series probably helps that feeling in me.) But Momiji... well, yeah, he's not as old as they say he is, I don't care what the series says. Momiji hands down for me.
>Negi Springfield, Negima
>Akito Hayama, Kodocha
Hmm... another where I know only 1: Akito. And yes, he doesn't want to be treated like a kid, but the fact remains that there are cases where he tries to act like an adult, and fails, letting the kid he is shine. To me, he would try to fail this category, but his failures at it just make it easier to justify giving him my vote.
>Shippo, Inu-Yasha
>'2nd Place' Yuya Asuo, Super Gals!
This one was tough for me. Both act rather young, but for appearance (and annoyance), I had to go with Shippo.
>Laharl, Disgaea
>Junior, R.O.D The TV
Who? Never heard of the first series, and the second is on my backlog. Next.
>Son Goku, Saiyuki
>Myōjin Yahiko, Rurouni Kenshin TV
Hmm... another tough one. Yahiko is a rather young one, but some of his genuine actions don't really strike me as those of a youth. But Goku, well... he reminds me of a whiny kid that I just want to slap, so I'll lean toward Goku for this one.

My fault there, I put "Honey" in those double quotation marks and the poll generator cut everything out at the first mark. Once the poll is made I can't do anything about it. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif /images/graemlins/depresse.gif /images/graemlins/depresse.gif I went and changed to Mitsukuni ‘Honey’ Haninozuka, Ouran High Shool Host Club
in my master sheets so it will be right if he makes it to the second round. Sorry I hope that didn't effect his chances. Its right in the PDF files and in the in the post itself.

Two that are dominating (Momiji (YAY!) and Junior) but for the rest, it's literally anyone's guess...that's probably why I've loved this tournament mostly, because in a lot of these rounds you haven't got a clue to win - and I felt that Negi/Hayama would be the hardest one of this bunch...I was right...so far. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Now Arima is ahead by two votes.
For everyone who is trying to keep their hopes alive at winning this tourney, Arima must stay ahead in his match with Mitsukuni because his master has already won in the other three first round pools. A Mitsukuni win would give Shounen=Out a dominating hand in the next round that will be difficult to overcome. Right now the top four teams (Shounen=Out, The Knights and Rogues, The Ladykillers, and The Knives Who Say Ni) have about a 30-40 point lead over the rest of the pack in the middle where 5th through 9th are only seperated by 5 points. The other three teams at the top are barely holding onto leads in the Youthful pool right now. /images/graemlins/knowital.gif These key matches early on will have a huge impact on the rest of the tourney, but everyone needs to get in here and vote!!! /images/graemlins/knowital.gif

Did anyone voting in the second round of the Bishonen pool who didn't vote in the first round matches forget that this first round match is still going on? Less than 17 1/2 hours to go in the final first round matches and voting has grinded to a screeching halt. Several matches are only a few votes from turning their results to the opposite side. One of these matches, the one between Shippo and "Second Place" Yuya Asou, could result in the elimination of the Gay Lords from this tourney, with all four characters falling in the first round if nothing happens. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Damn it!!! Negi lost to Akito. Had the lead until 2-3 days before the end and Akito came with Sana to bite Negi-sensei in the ass.
And we get another tiebreaker match as Shippo and "Second Place" Yuya Asou ended up tied. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
Arima held on to win his match with Mitsukuni after taking the lead late as well. Arima's win keeps Team Shounen=Out from going 4-0 in the first round. But "Second Place" still needs to win his tiebreaker match or The Gay Lords will be eliminated from contention in this tourney. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Yes the Ninja Clown laid really big one this time. He seem to have it all looks like a kid, acts like a kid, and damn is a kid too. Add to the fact he star of a very popular show not just on TV but here too. Very dissappointing to say the least.
Hey Victor how did Naruto do in the Anime Draft. If I remember right it wasn't too good there either.

Naruto was drafted in the third round and only received 3 points (18th place). Momiji didn't fare that much better drafted in the seventh round and only received 8 points (5-way tie for 13th). This Anime Draft was Naruto's second draft after taking 2005 off and Momiji's first draft. Arima was the only other character from the 2006 Anime Draft in the Youthful pool and he was also drafted in the seventh round only two picks before Momiji and ended up in the same 4-way tie with Momiji.
Looking at some of the other characters that were in the 2006 Anime Draft: (characters that were used as entry cards were scored differently than the other nine rounds.)
Yuki Sohma (Bishonen): drafted in the eighth round, 4-way tie for 5th with 16 points.
Genjo Sanzo (Bishonen): drafted in the fifth round, third place alone with 19 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Nuriko.
Dark Mousy (Bishonen): drafted in the fourth round, 4-way tie for 9th with 12 points.
Soubi Agatsuma (Bishonen): drafted in the seventh round, (4-way tie for 5th) with 16 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Howl.
Eikichi Onizuka (Ecchi): Sojirou the Tenken's entry card for the first round, 3-way tie for 11th with 19 points.
Kintaro Oe (Ecchi): drafted in the fourth round, 4-way tie for 13th with 8 points .
Roy Mustang (Ecchi): penguin_tango's entry card for the first round, tied for 5th with 30 points.
Shigure Sohma (Ecchi): drafted in the sixth round, 3-way tie for 9th with 12 points .
Lupin III (Ecchi): Balthier's entry card for the first round, 18th place with 9 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Kintaro Oe.
Alucard (Psycho): drafted in the third round, 3-way tie for 4th with 17 points.
Kenshin Himura (Psycho): drafted in the second round, tied for 6th with 15 points.
Youichi Himura (Psycho): drafted in the eighth round, tied for 19th with 2 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Dilandau Albatou.
Hisoka (Psycho): drafted in the tenth round, 3-way tie for 6th with 15 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Katsuhiko Jinnai.
Dilandau Albatou (Psycho): drafted in the seventh round, tied for 11th with 10 points.
Kurodo Akabane (Psycho): drafted in the second round, tied for 16th with 5 points. *eliminated in the Boys of Summer Tourney by Alucard.
Dio Eraclea (Psycho): drafted in the ninth round, won the round alone with 25 points.
