Hi there, newbie here. The main reason I joined is to see if anyone can help with some questions about a certain Tenchi Muyo! Laserdisc, it being Tenchi Muyo! In Love (the first movie). If this is the wrong section for this, I apologize.

The main reason I got it was because I heard of a special end credits sequence instead of the usual text scroll that appeared on the R1 DVD release. I even have a (very low quality) movie file of this sequence, so I know it exists. I looked up some info and according to more than one site, the Laserdisc set I acquired is the version with the special ending. Unfortunately, upon viewing the Laserdisc, all I got was the regular scroll ending.

The version I have is PILA-1390A. Is there anyone with any knowledge of laserdiscs that can tell me if the special credits sequence is anywhere on the 2 discs (I don't know much about laserdiscs, so I don't know if there is a way to access certain scenes)?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hmm, I don't have any versions of the movie on LD, but I'm interested in seeing this special ending for myself, so I'll see if there's any copies for sale in Akihabara next time I'm there, probably sometime this week.

I may have already found what you're looking for. The Special Collection version (PILA-1393) has "newly created ending clips" (storyboards by Hiroshi Negishi and drawn by Hiroyuki Horiuchi) listed as the first extra. Interesting, I never knew about this. I'll have to pick it up.

So that means I don't have the special version. Dang. I guess it's back to searching for the real one.

Thanks for the info. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

IIRC, the ending clips also feature Megumi Hayashibara's version of Alchemy of Love (instead of the original version by Nina Hagen and Rick Jude); if these are the same special clips I'm thinking of.

I've seen two movie files of the special ending that feature both songs. The one I currently have (I lost the other one) has the english version of the song playing over the clips.

Got this today and watched the first of the three discs. Each side appearently has several deleted scenes in the form of colored genga (key animation sketches) set to newly recorded seiyuu dialogue and BGM. Pretty cool, and definitely recommended if you're a Tenchi Muyo fan and have a LD player.
