well, just go to Jungle (http://jungle-scs.co.jp/cgi-bin/cart_e.cgi) and search for
Macross Flash Back
If you can't find it anymore, the short of it is somebody paid 18000-yen for FB-2012 dvd first-ed.
Considering what that anime dvd is, I'm sure the fan who waited (for quite a long time) and paid for it for that much is finally happy just to get it.
No, I'm not the one who bought it. I wouldn't and couldn't, anyway. /images/graemlins/relief.gif
edit:
Took down the pic so as not to violate their stuff. /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

It's a better price than I've seen on auctions of late. It's the one that I still need to get after all these years. However, I have yet to connect the dots on this one. It's hard to justify this kind of expense on a 30 min music video even as a Macross fan.
At least I finally have the M+ R2 movie on the way.
Thanks for the link.

Been there, done that. Not with Macross, and not with only 30 minutes of content, but still quite abit on singular and rare R2J content.

Even at 5,800 yen, I thought this was expensive. I ended up getting it from sazuma.com's 50% off sale a few years back (thanks to an AoD post, as I recall) for about the price of a R1 DVD. /images/graemlins/happy.gif The thing is, I think it might be hard to convince a buyer it's not a bootleg since it's coded for region 0. Even if I could, I think I'd regret selling it, despite also having the laser. Too much nostalgia involved with this title. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
I wonder why it went out of print, though.

I knew there was a premium on the Macross Flashback 2012 DVD but that price is crazy. I can't believe Anime Jungle is charging that much for it. I can understand the buyer paying up though (when you gotta have it, you gotta have it - and for a Macross fan, Flashback 2012 is a MUST have).
I know it's out-of-print but... I don't recall it being so rare that a used copy should go for 3-times the original price. Wow.
Edit: Falcon_73 is right. Anime Jungle's price is actually pretty decent. I just checked Amazon Japan. Some of used sellers there are selling it for an additional 10,000 yen. Yikes.

I remember that the Lodoss War OVA set used to go for some serious bank (like 70,000 yen). I wonder how much that's worth now that the set is being reissued soon.
Just FYI:
as of 8/3/2006
¥18000 = US$156.15

I think that was the primary reason why it went OOP rather quickly. Once everybody found out that nobody needed an R2-player for it, fans were more than willing to buy it even at the original 5k-yen price.

Yeah I also got it cheap from sazuma. Since I do know what it is now (I didn't fully at the time), I think I would pay a premium to get it again. 10k yen easily - 18k is a bit hard to justify since I have other stuff I want, but would be doable. Once something becomes OOP there's a bit more flexibility in the pricing, since then you're dealing with something that's essentially a collectible.

Not too bad at UK exchange rate of £1 = US$1.81 approx. Had I seen it I'd have bought it, but would be happy with a LD for less.
